Got a call from a guy who wouldn’t say why he was ringing. All he kept saying was he needed to talk to a Director. When I asked what the call was about, he just asked if I was one of the Directors. He wouldn’t share any more details. Pretty sure it was some sort of sales call.

True to form, he cut me off as soon as he realised he wasn’t making any headway. I attempted to ring back, but it seems I'm just met with a call centre wall-“all agents are occupied,” and then they rudely just end the call.

A woman named Francesca just rang and was insistent on having a word with our CEO. When I pressed her for details about her call, she was rather evasive about her whereabouts. After I mentioned that our CEO was currently unavailable, she promptly demanded to converse with another director instead. It seems she had conveniently pulled their names from Companies House. Her approach was quite off-putting and frankly, rather pushy.

I received a telephone call from someone named Abbey King who was inquiring about the director by her name. He seemed unfamiliar with her and requested further information before proceeding with the conversation. Once connected, Abbey spoke with a noticeable air of confidence and mentioned she hailed from Rubix when probed for more specifics. I attempted to return the call but encountered a message stating that all agents were occupied. I made several attempts to reach them, but the outcome was the same each time.

On Thursday, the 14th of June 2023 at precisely 11:02 in the morning, I received a call from someone identifying themselves as “Abi (sic) King.” The line appeared to originate from a call centre, as I could clearly hear a cacophony of chatter in the background. They inquired specifically for our managing director, mentioning their name, yet refused to clarify the purpose of their call, stating one rather cryptically, “he will know what it’s about.” When I pressed the matter, the caller simply responded with “about Rubix.” Upon realising their attempts to get to the MD were falling flat, they then attempted to contact a different shareholder by name, which raises my suspicion that they must have gleaned that information from Companies House. Nice effort, but ultimately fruitless; no one in our firm has ever interacted with or even heard of anyone affiliated with “Rubix.” The caller remained courteous throughout, yet given the nature of our work environment, we maintain a healthy scepticism towards calls with vague intents. A quick bit of research led me to discover that Rubix is a known source of telemarketing or telecom-related nuisance calls. Thus, I’ve promptly blocked their number.

I received a phone call from someone identifying himself as 'Sam Rogers.' He insisted on speaking to our Managing Director and mentioned that he had just had a conversation with him. Naturally, I was a bit taken aback, as our MD was right beside me at the time. I inquired which company he was representing, and his response was simply, "It's Sam Rogers, just put me through." I repeated my question about his company three times, but all he did was end the call abruptly. It was clearly a call centre environment, with a cacophony of noise in the background. It’s rather cheeky how these callers presume we're none the wiser and attempt to play it off like they’re some sort of acquaintance. And just like that, the elusive Sam Rogers vanished!

He never bothered to say who he represented, just tossed out, "I'll message instead," and hung up. Straight to the blocked list he goes!

Blimey! This Evie character has tried ringing us four times now, attempting to get through to our director. Apparently, she thinks he’ll recognise her voice, claiming they’ve chatted previously. As the office manager, I handle all incoming calls, and if she’d really spoken to him, she’d surely have his mobile number. She was quite dodgy about revealing her name, too. When I pressed her for the name of her company, she completely sidestepped my question three times! Eventually, she mentioned “Rubix” and said she’d ring back later. Well, good luck with that- I've blocked the number!

I found myself in a rather perplexing situation today. I was on the line with someone who identified herself as Francesca Jones, and to my astonishment, my own voice seemed to echo back at me during the conversation. Despite my inquiries, she firmly denied using speakerphone. Oddly enough, she was adamant about wanting to converse with X, the director, yet she appeared completely clueless about who he was. She claimed he’d recognise her immediately, but honestly, if I’m not familiar with her, I highly doubt he would be! (Given that a personal matter would typically reach his mobile, it's rather essential for me to keep track of our contacts...) I have a sneaking suspicion that we've crossed paths before, as she always promises to send over an email but never follows through. It's a tremendous waste of my time, really. While we don’t typically entertain sales pitches, we pride ourselves on professionalism, so we don’t simply cut calls short. The whole ordeal is maddening, to say the least!

When I try to get the name of the caller, they claim to be "Tom Green," but when I request the name of the organisation, they simply hang up.
