I've had about two dozen different numbers calling me, all linked to the same scam. It began when I got tricked on a different line by someone claiming to be from O2 Customer Support. They promised to cut my monthly bill in half but ended up sending me an iPhone costing nearly £1,000 along with a device contract that I never asked for. They even tried to get the phone back on the excuse it was sent 'by error'. Luckily, I soon realised it was a con and sent the phone back to O2 the right way, and they put my original contract back in place.

I got a call from an unfamiliar area recently. When I picked up, there was complete silence with nobody saying a word. Then the line just went dead and the caller hung up straight away. I've since blocked the number on my phone.

Yeah, definitely a scam alert here. They claim they've got a 30% off deal and text you twice, one message containing a code. Then they ask for that code to supposedly place phone orders through your account. I rang O2 myself and they said it’s a scam for sure. Lucky I’m always wary when strangers ring me from unknown numbers. Best advice: don’t share the code, just end the call and block them straight away. Can’t stand these annoying pests always trying to rip people off.

So this person said they were calling from O2 t......, but the number showed up as Inverness, Scotland. The woman on the other end had a really strong Asian accent which was a bit confusing. I only put up with the nonsense for like 15 seconds before I lost interest. It’s definitely a scam and honestly, I’m getting really tired of all these calls. Maybe it’s time I just switch my phone number to avoid it.

Watch out, these people pretended to be from O2 and tricked me. They called from numbers ending in 26, 13, and 16. I thought it was legit at first, but then they asked for a code. Don’t pick up if you see those numbers pop up! It all sounds okay, but it’s a scam, seriously be cautious!

Got a call from a man with a foreign accent on my emergency-only number, which I don't share with anyone. Even after I said I was on pay-as-you-go and wasn’t interested in buying a new phone, he just kept pushing me to hear him out.

Got a call claiming to be from O2, offering some 40% discount on your contract. I found out that if you tell them you’re on pay as you go, they just hang up immediately - quite rude if you ask me. Odd way for O2 to treat folks (bit laughable really). The number showed Inverness, but the voice on the line was clearly not from Scotland at all.

01808400023 popped up on my phone, says it’s from Inverness. Another dodgy call, so I just let it ring and blocked it straight away. Then moments later, 01207 700031 from Consett tried ringing as well - same deal, ignored and blocked. Before these two, I had a couple more calls within 10 minutes: 01808 400015 also from Inverness, then 01204 204036 from Bolton, and even +43 1 444390644 from Vienna, Austria. Didn’t answer any, just blocked them all. Reported them here as harassing numbers. This all happened on 22/7/22.

Got three missed calls earlier today. I phoned back once I finished work and the voicemail said KM Energy, which just puzzled me given all the other comments here... My guess is that with this same number, loads of different scams are being run! These scammers really are getting so lazy now! Always bothering honest people and trying to nick our hard earned cash!

I received a rather dubious call from someone purporting to be from EE, attempting to persuade me to take out a new phone contract with a shiny new device. Strangely enough, they wanted to charge me the same amount I currently pay but the figures they quoted were all over the place! It started at £15, moving up to £16, then jumped to £35, and eventually reached £50, before settling back down to £20. The whole conversation was quite confusing, and I couldn't make sense of it at all. To me, it reeked of a scam from the outset. They were also asking for all manner of personal and banking information. I inquired about their actual requirements, yet naturally refrained from divulging any of my details.

This time, nobody said a word. But it's just another fake Virgin number ringing me up. I usually tell them straight, if you don’t know my name, there’s no point chatting. Virgin always mentions your name on the call. Once I say “No name, no chat”, they just cut off the call.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Virgin Media offering me a special discount on a new plan. They even mentioned how much I supposedly pay every month (which is true since I use Virgin for my TV and phone). But the odd bit is, they rang my EE number, not the Virgin one. I checked with Virgin Media themselves and they said no one from their team had called me, so it was clearly a scam.
