Somebody rang me saying they were from O2 and asked for my OTP to access my account. Definitely a total scam, don’t fall for it!

Kept calling even though the number showed up as spam, so I just ignored it. They rang another 4 times after that.

This number rang me a few times while I was digging my phone out of my bag. When I finally picked up, there was nothing but silence on the other end. After reading all the comments here, I decided to block and delete the number straight away. I've also told my husband and daughter to ignore it if they get a call from the same place. Honestly, it reminds me of those annoying calls on my landline about my washing machine’s warranty running out - they claim to be from my insurance company! I always tell them they’re not and, nicely of course, where they can stick their offers! Big thanks to everyone who shared their experiences, it really helped me figure this one out.

Got a call from 01808 400018 earlier today. My phone flagged it as a possible scam, so I didn’t pick up. They never left a voicemail or anything, so I looked the number up afterwards. After reading some of the reviews here, I decided to block the number and remove it from my contacts. Had a couple of run-ins with fraudsters before, so I’m definitely being extra careful now!

I saw the number but didn’t pick up since it looked unfamiliar. They hung up quickly and didn’t leave a voicemail, so I reckon it was just another scam call.

Seems like someone’s been putting on an act, claiming they're from O2! Quite the cheeky ruse, if you ask me.

Was too busy driving to pick up when the phone rang. Honestly, kind of relieved I didn’t scramble to answer it!

Picked up and some Indian guy was on the line, the kinda bloke you'd expect to do this sort of thing. I said I couldn't talk right now 'cause I was dealing with an itch in a rather delicate area. He just went quiet and then hung up, honestly had me laughing!

I picked up the phone and the bloke said he was calling from Carphone Warehouse. I told him straight away I wasn’t interested and told him to remove my number from their list. He kept on going no no no like he wouldn’t take no for an answer and said he’d just keep ringing me. I ended the call but then he called right back, asking in a rude way why I’d hung up on him. I told him to stop bothering me, but he went no no no again. Luckily, my husband stepped in and told him off properly.

They’ve buzzed my number four times over the past three days. Quite persistent, aren’t they?

This afternoon I got a call from a man with an Asian accent, probably the same guy others have mentioned here. He claimed he was calling from O2 and that my contract was going to have a discount starting next month. He then sent me a text saying he was about to send a code that I shouldn’t share with anyone. Shortly after, I got another message with a code and he wanted me to read it back to him, saying it was O2’s way of confirming they were speaking to the account holder. I refused to repeat the code because the text itself told me not to share it with anyone. He kept repeating the same lines, trying to persuade me, but I stood my ground. After around 15 minutes of this back-and-forth, I just ended the call. Then, barely a minute later, another call came through from a number very similar but with the last two digits different (15 instead of 18). I ignored it straight away. After reading these other comments, I’ve now blocked both numbers.

These Indian scammers keep calling from all sorts of numbers. I don't get why the cops aren't cracking down on them. It's just a pain in the neck, but some poor folks might end up getting ripped off.

Didn’t pick up, the call showed up as Tomatin. Nowadays, I just reckon any unknown number is probably some kind of scammer.

I usually don’t pick up calls from numbers I don’t know, but I was waiting for someone to ring me. This number came up, so I answered. The bloke on the other end had a strong Indian accent, and I couldn’t make out what he was saying when he said the company name. After the third try, it was just mumbling. The only clear bit was when he asked “how are you today?” in this overly cheerful tone. I told him I was pretty annoyed, suggested he sharpen up his phone manners, and then hung up.

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent claiming they were calling from either O2 or some 'All 2 network', saying they had this 'amazing promotion' going on. Luckily, my phone’s antivirus picked it up as a scam and threw a warning at me. Since I was waiting for a call about my car insurance, I answered but quickly said 'Cheers, no thanks' and ended the call. Wouldn’t risk it otherwise!

Got a call from a bloke claiming to be Virgin Media, said he was from there. I told him I was busy at work, and then he suddenly started swearing in a nasty, inappropriate way. Honestly, best not to pick up!

Is he from South Asia, Central Asia, East Asia, South East Asia, or maybe even North Asia? Or could he be Russian Asian since a big part of Russia lies in Asia as well?

I can't say for certain what happened. I had my headphones on when suddenly I found myself on a call I didn't initiate. It struck me as rather odd, and while I wouldn’t want to jump to conclusions, it felt quite dodgy, to say the least.

I got a call about Funeral Plans, right? When I flat out told them 'No, you’ve got the wrong idea,' they kept pressing and asked if anyone else living with me might be interested - which doesn’t make sense since they were ringing my mobile. Honestly, I suppose the poor sod making these awful cold calls must be miserable, but surely they could show a bit of respect and stop being so creepy.

This number called me a couple of times today. The first caller claimed to be from Virgin Media, but when the second guy answered, he wasn’t even talking in English. I told him nicely to get lost and he just cut me off. I actually enjoy these calls ’cause I mess with ’em until they get annoyed haha. Definitely a scam number, no doubt about it.

This same bloke, sounds Asian, calls me every now and then claiming he’s sorting out my British Gas contract renewal. Thing is, my contract aint even up yet. He never accepts 'no' for an answer. I keep telling him to send the paperwork through the post but he insists I just need to confirm some details. I end up having to block his number time and again.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Virgin Media and wanted to know what I pay on my bill. I turned it around on them and said, if they’re really Virgin Media, surely they already know my monthly charges. Feels a bit dodgy, probably a scam.
