Got a call from someone saying they were with "motor assist" and first asked for me. Told them I wasn't in. Then they asked for my husband, I said the same thing. They wanted to know when he'd be back but I said he was at the hospital. Then they just hung up!

My elderly mum got a call from a man using this number who asked if he could speak to Dad. She told him Dad wasn’t around. The man said he’d talked to Dad earlier that day and wanted to speak with him again. Mum then told him it would be tricky as Dad passed away in March!!! The man kept insisting on talking to Dad and kept saying the connection was bad until mum ended the call. Apparently, they thought Dad had been involved in a car crash!!

The caller addressed me as Mr followed by my first name and asked if I had been involved in a crash with another car while my car was stopped. They kept asking if this had happened in the past 18 months. I said no, and then he thanked me for being truthful before ending the call.

"Management Accident Group?" they claim they got permission from someone at No 10!!! The call was pretty friendly and polite until they mentioned “the accident happened in 2019 on your visit to London.” Since I haven’t been to London since about 2010, it was clear this was a SCAM. They didn’t say their name or what company they were from. Didn’t know my name either. Said it was regarding an accident I supposedly had outside. The call was full of static and noise in the background. When I told them I hadn’t had any accident and they’d actually rung a church, they just got quiet and didn’t know what to say. I hung up after that. I reckon this could be a dodgy scam. Probably best to be careful with calls like this.

Got two calls from them today. Just like everyone else says, they told me I was in an accident and might be hurt, but wouldn’t give any more info. Said they don’t provide details. If I’ve got time, I like to mess about with them. They claim to run a fleet and said there’s been 17 accidents with injuries in the past year. Totally wastes their time. They get proper annoyed when I tell them it’s a joke. I even told them to pay an admin fee before I’d spill any info.

Me too, lots of things wrong and they said I’d clicked something on my annual renewal form. I called the Motor Investigations Bureau since they’ve got a division looking into this. The bloke I talked to was called Mike Carter (probably fake) and had a South African accent. Sounds like he’s done this loads cause he got pretty snappy when I kept asking what he was talking about (‘Do you even know what an accident is, Sir?’). Honestly, I found it quite funny.

They didn’t ask for any of my details and were really polite. I told them the accident was actually to my husband’s car and his insurer sorted it, which made them end the call. I reckon if I’d said I wanted a payout they’d have asked for personal info, so it looks like they’re just after people who aren’t honest - and honestly, that would be fair enough.
