This number popped up as maybe a scam, they rang my mate.

Two comments down from this one show the exact steps to take to shut down these scam calls. If all the thousands in the UK who get these dodgy calls and texts daily follow through, the police and government will have to act properly to block these thieves. Don’t just expect others to sort it out. It doesn’t take much time at all. I’ve bookmarked the ‘Action Fraud’ site and even messaged my MP - got a pretty ‘interesting’ reply. But it ain’t helpful if it’s only me doing something about it.

Was calling about selling phones, definitely a con.

Received a call from someone with a distinct Indian accent, likely from a call centre given the racket in the background. It turned out to be a spammer, so I went ahead and blocked the number. Just thought I’d give everyone a heads-up. Cheers!

Not trying to be racist but it’s obviously an Indian call centre. Loads of people just ignore these alerts and end up regretting it. Make sure you report them to OFCOM and block the number if you haven’t already!

Definitely a con. Rang me pretending to be from my mobile network, offering an unlimited sim deal for £25 a month. When I asked them to name my provider, they just said "your provider". Blocked the number straight away.

I've had this number ring me several times, and it's really annoying, especially when I'm trying to relax because I've been feeling unwell. I've never picked up as I suspected it was some sort of scam, and from what others have said, I was spot on. I usually ignore calls from strangers anyway, so they’re just wasting their effort. But honestly, I’m close to answering just so I can give whoever it is a piece of my mind for all the hassle they’ve put me through this week. Bit of a rant might actually make me feel better.

So, just got a ring from this guy called Eric, sounded Asian, said he was with the Telephone Preference Service, number was 01677222023. He actually knew my name, which freaked me out a bit. I asked him why he was calling when I'm already on the TPS list, which should mean no calls like this. He just went "Umm..." then immediately hung up. Typical spammer behaviour, honestly.

This number has been ringing me quite a bit recently and whenever I say I’m not up for whatever they’re pushing about stopping unwanted calls by some sort of upgrade, they just drop the call. Yet, they keep calling back like they don’t get the message. Maybe they’re daft or maybe they’ve got some tech that tracks who’s said no already. Feels like they just keep at it, hoping you’ll cave eventually. Watch out and never share your bank info or agree to pay anything - total SCAM.

Was quite aggressive when I picked up. Claimed to be calling from the TPS. I told them they weren’t legit since I looked up the number and the TPS never asks for bank info anyway, so I refused to give anything. They just hung up on me. After that, the same number called me four more times, each call from a different person. Every time I told them the same thing and they just ended the call. They kept ringing over and over, six times yesterday alone and once today so far.

Received a call where the person questioned if I was the account holder. Then they wanted to know if I still get annoying calls even though I’m signed up with the TPS. When I said yes, they tried to sell me a “premium” service for a fee. I said no thanks and the call just dropped. Funny thing is, when I tried ringing the number back, it said the line isn’t active - how does that add up?

Got a phone call from some bloke named James. He was asking about marketing calls I've been getting even though I’m on the TPS list. He said sorry for ringing me and said they could provide some kind of improved service to keep an eye on all my calls. How on earth did he know I’m actually signed up with TPS? Bit suspicious to me.

Got a call on the 28th of December, and I had my phone right next to me. I use BT call guardian, so any new number has to press the # key and say who they are the very first time they ring. This lot didn’t do that, so I just blocked them straight away.

My elderly mum, who’s over 80, got a call from this number. They told her her credit card was about to expire and said they could assist her with it. They then went on to ask for all the card info, but she refused and ended the call straight away. Since then, they’ve rung her up three more times, each call getting more persistent, which has really upset her.

Got a call around 3.40pm about some nuisance calls, they brought up TPS straight away. When I requested to speak with their manager and asked for their company address, they cut me off quickly. Pretty sure it was another scammer. I'm not as nice as I used to be with these folks now. I always make sure to ask for their info and then check on wunderweb. I tell them they’re harassing people and I’m going to report it.

i’m not one to pick up calls from numbers i dont know or from different areas. if more people did this, the scammers would have a much harder time. real people usually leave a voicemail anyway. after reading the other comments here, i’m pretty sure this is just another scammer so i’ll mark it as such.

Got calls from the same lot of scammers as yesterday, but back then the calls seemed to come from Bath. Today it’s a Bedale number. Looks like they’re ticking off places starting with B or something. They even called me again while I was typing this comment! Proper persistent and irritating, and could be trouble if they get hold of the wrong person. Luckily, my answerphone kicks in and probably costs them a bit each time they try.
