I keep getting calls from this dodgy call centre, and they’re always using different Manchester area codes. It's driving me mad!

Got a call from a guy with a thick Indian accent, loads of background noise and his English wasn’t great. He told me someone in Manchester had used my info to open an Amazon account and bought an iPad for over £600. He asked what kind of laptop I had and then said he’d give me a security code to use for future purchases. I told him no thanks and suggested he gets Amazon to email me directly if there really was a problem. After that he just hung up.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Virgin Media tech support regarding my internet problems. Since I actually work for Virgin Media, I asked them who their manager was and who gave them permission to make the call, because Virgin never do calls like that. They just hung up on me instantly. This is definitely a scam. If your number falls under a Virgin Media range in your area, they just presume you’re a Virgin customer. They didn’t get your details from a data breach.

Got a call from someone saying they were Virgin Media, warned me my internet might have been compromised. I told the lady, who had an Indian accent, that I’d just ring Virgin Media directly. She then called me a horrible name and just ended the call. Weird experience!

I got a call from someone saying they're with EE, asking what kind of mobile phone I have. They mentioned it was about some sort of deal or promotion. Honestly, the noise in the background sounds exactly like the other dodgy calls I've had - always the same weird sound. I just ended the call. Feels a bit iffy, might be risky to get involved.

I received a rather alarming call from this number just now, claiming to be from the fraud department of Visa. They informed me about two suspicious transactions linked to my bank-one supposedly going to a woman in China and the other to Amazon. I mentioned that I would verify this with my bank, and before I could say another word, the line went dead. Quite the dodgy experience, I must say!

Got a call from someone saying they were from O2, claiming I had an account with them. Thing is, I've been with Sky for like three years. When they asked me to verify my details, I kept asking them stuff instead, and all they did was hang up on me. No doubt, it was a scam.

Got a call from this number earlier saying they were from O2, offering me an iPhone 12 in exchange for the same monthly fee I pay for my iPhone SE 2020. The woman, who sounded Indian, asked me how much my current payments were. I told her she should already have that info. I told her I was tied up and couldn't chat today, and she said she'd call back on Saturday. After seeing some other comments about this, I’d be careful with this one.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with BT, said they were checking internet speed problems in the area. They asked me to turn on my laptop or tablet to test the speed. I told them I’d contact BT myself to confirm, and when I mentioned that, the person said they really were from BT. So I said I’d ring BT using my phone to double-check, and then the call just cut off. Fairly clear it wasn’t BT after all.
