I got a call from someone who said they were from O2, but the connection was really bad and I could barely catch what they were saying. They told me I'd receive a text message with a link that I had to click on. I asked if they could just email me instead, since O2 already have my email. They acted like they were from o2, claiming a 45% discount and even sent me two texts from 02UK numbers, so it seemed legit. One message was about security, the other had a code. Just a heads up: never share the code. I was suspicious since o2 never really offers discounts. When they wanted the 6 digit security code, I just made one up and they kept sending the texts again and again, like three times. That’s a dead giveaway they’re dodgy. Watch out folks, these scammers can really mess you about.

Got a recorded message from what said it was the Bank’s Fraud Team warning about some odd charges on my account. Mentioned payments to Amazon and a money transfer place. They told me to press 1 to speak to someone about fraud. Pretty obvious it was just a scam trying to catch me out.

Today, I received a call from this number, and I had a rather similar experience with another call from a nearly identical number that ended in a 1. In both instances, I was on the line with female callers who insisted they’d found an issue with my Virgin Media modem. I got a voicemail supposedly from HMRC telling me to ring them back. The so-called agent, Michael Johnson with a worker ID 97225, wanted to know my bank balance and credit card limits, then said I had to pay a fine right away. Totally a scam, don’t fall for it.
