01613540624 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 01613540624 👆 is reported as a persistent nuisance caller frequently masquerading as the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) to trick recipients into divulging personal and financial information, including direct debit and credit card details. Callers often remain silent or disconnect when challenged and repeatedly call multiple times daily without leaving a message. The number appears linked to scam operations based abroad, using local UK area codes to appear legitimate. Attempts to verify the caller’s identity or contact details generally fail or lead to disconnected lines. Users are advised to avoid answering or providing any personal data, block the number, and report suspicious calls to official bodies, as genuine TPS representatives do not proactively make such calls. Robust call screening devices are recommended to prevent these intrusions.

Absolutely infuriating, these con artists! They masquerade as the Telephone Preference Service, but it’s all a load of rubbish. Why on earth can't something be done to put a stop to them?

I got a call from this number twice, but when I picked up, there was complete silence. No one said a word.

Just yesterday, I got a call from this number. There was a bit of a pause, and then a woman's voice inquired whether I was the account holder for this phone line. I decided to hang up. Almost right after, they tried ringing me again, but I chose not to pick up. They attempted to contact me several more times after that, and again, I didn’t answer. Strangely, no voicemail was ever left.

I received a call earlier today from someone claiming to be from the TPS, stating they needed to prevent international calls and asking for my direct debit details. It all struck me as rather dubious, so I decided to terminate the call. Subsequently, I reached out to the genuine TPS, who confirmed it was indeed a scam. Do steer clear of this! Just as a side note, the TPS mentioned they would never make contact unless there was an ongoing complaint.

I've been inundated with calls from this number for what feels like ages now, it's relentless! Finally, I picked up out of sheer annoyance. To my surprise, the bloke on the other end had my name and address, claiming he wanted to help reduce the nuisance calls I was receiving. I shot back that he was the real pest and promptly ended the call.

I had a right nuisance with this number ringing me five times today, claiming they could put an end to unwanted calls. I couldn’t help but reply, “Oh, like you’re not a bother?” which clearly led to four more annoyances!

I use a nuisance call blocker on my phone, so if your number isn’t saved it just won’t ring through. When I went to look at missed calls, I saw 01613540624 on there. I blocked that one, but the very next day another different number appeared. When I looked up these numbers online, the reviews and comments were all pretty much identical. Looks like the company keeps switching numbers, probably using loads from all over the place, not even sticking to one area code.

In just one day, I’ve had eight calls from this number and not once did they leave a message. Bit annoying really.

Over the span of three days, this number, 01613540624, kept ringing me non stop. They just wouldnt accept me saying no - really pushy and annoying. I called back to try sort things out, only to get an automated message saying the number’s “not in service.” Weirdly, there was some mention of VIDX too, but it was pretty unclear what that was about.

Just got a call from someone claiming to be from telephone preference saying they needed to “update” the info they supposedly already had from my debit card. Then they asked for my sort code and account number! When I told them to read my details back so I could check, they said “we use biometrics and it won’t recognise your voice.” What?? How am I supposed to verify anything if you can’t even say the numbers properly? This scam was just too ridiculous to even take seriously.

I've had this number ring me five times just today! They claim they're going to put an end to all those pesky nuisance calls, including the international ones and whatnot. I told them it’s downright awful how they frighten the elderly with their incessant ringing, and then I just hung up on them. Would you believe it, I received another three calls after that, sometimes there's someone at the other end, but often it’s just dead air. It feels like they’re the real bother here, pretending to be the solution. I reckon it's a bit dodgy, so I’d advise against engaging with them. Best to verify their authenticity through a different avenue first before taking any action.

I've been receiving about three or four missed calls daily, and it’s all registered through my call guardian. Honestly, I was a bit worried, so I'm really pleased I decided to investigate on this site.

I got a phone call from 0161 354 0624 today. The bloke on the line said his name was Michael and that he was calling from the Telephone Preference Service, but he was asking for the expiry date of my Visa Debit card. I didn’t give him any details, and then he just said goodbye and hung up. Pretty obvious scam if you ask me!

Same here, wouldn't tell me the card's expiry date. I just ended the call, but then he called me back, sounding annoyed, saying he never asked for any cash or he'd be fired. I kept pushing for a number to check the company, and after some fuss, he gave me 02036305057. He said he'd wait for my call, but obviously, I never bothered calling.

I’ve come across this number believed to be part of a PPI scam. They rang me at around 12:45 on the 20th of December, 2017. I spotted the call on my screen and didn’t recognise it, so I chose to ignore it. I will add this number to my blocked list, not that it will do much good as they've likely got a whole host of different ones at their disposal. It makes one wonder who’s allowing these details to circulate among such companies-this is where the real issue lies. And wouldn’t you know it, they called again as I was in the middle of typing this! Frankly, the TPS and data protection laws seem utterly ineffective in safeguarding our privacy, and it’s high time the legislation got a thorough overhaul!

Got three calls this morning from some bloke with a strong accent, sounded like he was from somewhere in South Asia, claiming to be from the Telephone Preference Service. He was really pushy and kept going on even after I explained that TPS never actually calls people. I ended up just hanging up on him every time he started talking.

another time those annoying callers from india pop up, this time pulling a tps scam. luckily, my bt phone flagged it straight away as coming from abroad, even though they tried to make it look like a manchester number. getting sick of these lot trying to trick people. honestly, the authorities back in the raj days should have knocked this on the head long ago!

Today, I received a rather dodgy call from this number. The person claimed to be from TPS and mentioned that, starting tomorrow, all telemarketing calls would be blocked. During our chat, they asked for my credit card's expiry date, which immediately raised my suspicions. Naturally, I refused to disclose any sensitive information. Then, bizarrely, they requested that I fetch a bank statement to provide them with a reference number! After that odd request, they abruptly hung up. Quite unsettling, to say the least!

They keep ringin me up, tryin to get me to let them fix a computer I dont even own, or talk about some accident I’m not involved in ’cause I don’t even drive. Today alone I got about a dozen calls on my landline from that number. I’ve put call guardian on it so they can’t actually connect unless I let them, but it’s gettin seriously annoying now and there’s gotta be some way to stop it.

This number has been blowing up my phone, called me like six times already today. I've finally blocked it through TalkTalk. If you're with TalkTalk too, just dial 14258, hit the star key twice when prompted, and it'll block that caller. Works for any number, but you need to use the most recent one that rang you. So fed up with these constant calls!

Similar to what others have mentioned, the person on the phone said they were from TPS and told me my service contract was up. When I questioned him about it, he kept insisting that his company handles all the telephone preference services across the UK. I told him that wasn't true and then he just hung up. The call came from an Indian number, even though the area code was Manchester.

I got a call from a number 0161 3540624 that said they were from some kind of telephone preference service. They claimed they could stop all international calls and block calls coming from IP servers. Turns out that's totally false, they can’t do any of that. Feels like a scam so they probably just wanted my credit card info. Watch out, this number is definitely dodgy.

I received a call on my phone at half past ten this morning, yet they didn’t bother to leave a voicemail. After dialling 1471, I discovered it was one of those bothersome numbers trying to pester me about PPI claims. Somebody rang up claiming to be from a telephone preference service, asking if I'd noticed fewer annoying sales calls - which was totally weird since they were calling me! Then they said my protection would end at midnight unless I signed up with them. It felt like a scam, so I challenged them nicely, but the woman was super stubborn, like a giraffe with a stiff neck or summat. She kept giving me her work phone number, address, and even said I could pop round. After a while, she just started mumbling to herself and hung up. Proper persistent, that one.

They claimed to be some sort of phone security service, saying they’d stop unwanted calls, then asked for my bank info. They said the calls were coming from ID numbers. But when I tried calling them back, the line just said it wasn’t working anymore. Very fishy if you ask me!
