Today I got a call from a really nice advisor who helped me get a brilliant deal on an O2 monthly contract. I’d definitely suggest this to anyone using pay as you go. This company isn’t dodgy at all - I mean, how can helping you save money be dodgy?

0161 277 6651 has been ringing me every day since 2nd December, so I decided to pick up today. Turns out they signed me up to a 12-month contract, phone included after 6 months. Lovely early Christmas surprise!

Got a couple of missed calls from this number, so I called back and it was an 02 rep. They told me how pricey my pay as you go was and explained the perks of switching to a monthly plan. Turns out I’ll be saving about 450 quid a year. Cheers for the call, without it I’d probably still be throwing loads of cash away every month.

This is O2, they switched my pay as you go to a monthly contract for both me and my husband, all handled by them. They gave me an order reference number which I later checked directly with O2 customer service, and they confirmed it’s legit from their sales team! Got my SIM cards today! They might ring daily but they’re genuine! They’re contacting all pay as you go users to see if they want to move to pay monthly, definitely worth it. I received a call from someone claiming to be from O2, inquiring about my pay as you go account. I politely declined their request for information. How on earth are these people permitted to phone us, pretending to represent O2?

They called me 14 bloody times today. When I asked why they felt the need to keep calling that much, they started shouting at me. Wouldn't be so bad if it was actually O2, but I'm already on a monthly contract with them (which I only just got), so no way they can sell me an upgrade. Total con artists, steer clear.

This number belongs to a firm named INTELLING, who act for O2. O2 provides them with a list of pay-as-you-go numbers, and then this company rings up all of them trying to persuade people to switch to a contract. If you don’t pick up, they keep putting your number back in the calling list and will ring repeatedly until someone finally answers. I’m aware of this because I used to be employed there.

I noticed this number popping up on my phone a few times and thought I’d check it out, which led me to believe it could be a scam pretending to be O2. So when it rang again today, I picked up and played along for a bit, but after a few questions I admitted I suspected it was dodgy. The guy then said, “Do you trust everything you read online?” If this really was O2, that’s a really unprofessional way to talk to customers. I’d definitely suggest ignoring this number and reporting it. I plan to report it first thing Monday when the fraud hotline is back open to see what’s going on.

I received a call from what claimed to be O2 in the UK, urging me to consider an upgrade. The offer did seem quite enticing, but then they started asking for quite a bit of personal information - my name, address, date of birth, and even the sort code and account number for my bank. To top it off, they wanted the long number on my card’s front, and I couldn’t believe they were fishing for the three-digit security code on the back as well. That was my cue to politely decline. To make things even more suspicious, they sent me a text too, which showed as O2 UK. Typically, I only see it as O2, which raised even more red flags.

It's really annoying how UK area codes get handed out to anyone, letting scammers make it seem like calls are local. Most of the time, these calls are actually from abroad. Best thing is to just ignore and definitely don’t call back. Don’t let curiosity get the better of you. Also got a text from EON, which is weird coz I don’t use them, telling me to pay for energy I didn’t use. That’s a new one, never had dodgy texts like that before.
