On Saturday morning, I received a call from an Indian gentleman who identified himself as William. He claimed to be representing the Global Call Blocking Service, and wanted me to confirm my identity. I refrained from doing so, as I am aware that agreeing to such requests can lead to unexpected commitments. When I probed him about where he was situated or the location of his company's headquarters, he was rather evasive. He also couldn't clarify which telephone provider I was using or answer several straightforward questions I asked. After about ten minutes of back-and-forth, he seemed to lose patience and hung up on me, which is unfortunate as I was quite intrigued and would have liked to continue the conversation. Bit later, they started asking for my online banking passwords and mentioned shifting all my money to a new account supposedly set up for me. Just be careful, never share your passwords. If you’re unsure, ring your bank straight away, don’t call the number they gave you.
