The call started off completely quiet, then the person on the line said "Mr XXXXX" but quickly changed it to "Mrs XXXXX" once they realised I’m a woman. I asked who it was, just in case it was someone legit since they knew our last name, but he ended the call straight away! On Saturday morning, I got a call from a man with an Indian accent who said his name was William. He claimed to be ringing from something called the Global Call Blocking Service and wanted me to confirm my name. I was suspicious and declined because I know that often means you’re agreeing to stuff without realising. He kept dodging questions about where he was calling from, where their main office was, who handles my phone line, that sort of thing. After about ten minutes of going round in circles, he gave up and hung up. I was actually hoping to keep the conversation going a bit longer. Got a call claiming to be from Halifax's fraud team, sounds just like what others have mentioned. They said there was some dodgy activity on my Amazon account then said they’d put a stop on it and that a supervisor would ring me back. Bit later, they started asking for my online banking passwords and mentioned shifting all my money to a new account supposedly set up for me. Just be careful, never share your passwords. If you’re unsure, ring your bank straight away, don’t call the number they gave you.
