Got a call from moneyexpert[###]. I remember someone from their team sorted out my broadband change over the phone last year. I double-checked the number just to be safe and it actually links to Money Expert’s main office at Catteshall Ln, Godalming GU7 1XE. Don’t get why some reckon it’s not genuine, it only took me a couple minutes to find it online.

This guy was calling me and already knew my first name and the area I live in. He asked me to verify my address and then started asking if I had any security system at home. He claimed he was with “money expert” working together with ADT and mentioned something about grants for home security. I told him I’ve already got security set up, so I didn’t share anything else. After that, I reported the call to the police and warned my mates and family around here.

I received a rather peculiar call from someone promoting free burglar alarms. Initially, the conversation seemed quite normal until he began referring to me as 'honey', 'sweetheart', and 'darling'. Got a couple of missed calls off this number and wasn’t sure who it was. Turned out to be Money Expert offering some support with funding for security alarms. They helped me before sorting my TalkTalk broadband and got me some funding for home security with ADT. Thanks to them, I managed to get a full alarm system paid for and even bagged a good discount on a doorbell camera. Definitely not the call I expected but glad I answered, especially since my house got broken into a couple of months ago.

Make sure you get the name right when talking about the firm behind these phone calls. ADT Systems is a little IT support outfit from Bristol and they aint the ones ringing. The people who call usually say "ADT Alarms", "ADT Alarm Services" or simply "ADT". Since ADT Systems is a small biz focused on B2B, they don't bother calling private homes.

Got a call from Adam claiming to be with Money Expert about ADT Alarms. Seemed pretty friendly! I've had Money Expert handle my gas and electric before, so I was a bit confused when he brought up my accent - thought he’d already seen my postcode details. I had to end the call quickly though since I’d just got cancer test results (which were thankfully good!). He kept pushing to ring me back tomorrow, but I told him to wait a few days. Got a call from some idiot pushing a security alarm with a "great offer" through Money Expert or whatever. I told him my system’s fine, and since I'm almost always at home, I kinda hope someone tries anything - I've got a shotgun ready. Got a call from a money advisor talking about home security - a bit strange really. Initially, they said the installation would cost me £59, mentioning I qualified for some discount. After rattling off loads of info about home security, the price dropped to £41 for installation plus £31 monthly (£1 a day). Didn’t really fancy the whole thing since I didn’t need security right now, so I just hung up. The guy, Dan, seemed quite nice though.

Financial advisors are urging folks to consider installing ADT security systems.

A few months back, someone from MoneyExpert got in touch and helped me sort out my Shell broadband. Then they rang me back mentioning I might be eligible for some security funding through ADT. To cut a long story short, I ended up with an alarm system and a doorbell camera installed, so I'm pretty happy with it. I’ll surely be turning to moneyexpert[###] once more.

I got a call from someone claiming they were installing ADT alarms nearby. They even had my email info and stuff, which I think they grabbed from MoneySupermarket when I switched my utility provider last year. They kept prying and asking loads of questions, so I just ended up hanging up on them.

The caller claimed to be from MoneyMarket, talking about some home insurance offer.

This number had rung me a few times, so I decided to ring it back. It ended up being from the website I’d used to check out home insurance prices, something like "moneyexpert[###]". They mentioned they’re now partnered with ADT, the alarm company, and helped sort me out with a paid-for system. The following day, ADT themselves got in touch after I’d gone over the paperwork with the rep, and they arranged to fit the alarm at the end of this month. Perfect timing really, as I’d just settled into my new place and was looking for some security.

I got a ring from Money Expert, I think I used their service for my home insurance last year. When I checked, Money Expert is located in Guildford, which is probably why the caller ID was that 01483 number. The bloke sounded quite nice and mentioned he was seeing if I’m eligible for some security funding in my neighbourhood. I’ve already got an alarm and cameras installed, so no need for the funding, but it was a pleasant little chat nonetheless.

Some bloke called me and already had my first name, claiming he found me via a Money Saving site. Proper creepy, because he even mentioned where I live. I ended the call straight away and blocked the number from Guildford.

Got a call from someone saying he was David at Money Expert. Said we had a home insurance policy with them, which we never did. Same story I’ve heard from others. They tried to tempt us with a free security alarm if we gave details about our home’s security. Feels really dodgy. Anyone know how to block these calls? Might be risky to deal with.

Got a call from someone claiming to be a money advisor, but all they wanted was to push me into buying an ADT home security system.

Got a bloke calling claiming he’s "Chris" from some Money Savings Expert, saying he’s chatted to me before about home insurance. He even knows my first name. Been ringing me loads since 21/12/20, even late at night. Just had another call today. Asked him to remove me from their list and he got all awkward and moody, so I just hung up and blocked the number.

Some young guy kept ringing me the last few weeks, asking for me by my name. Said he was with MSE or something. I just hung up on him.

So there was this chap from Simply Switch who knocked on my door, offered to sort out a discount for my gas and electric bills. During our chat, he mentioned a possible offer running with ADT nearby due to the local crime rates, so I gave him my phone number. I didn’t catch their first call, but they got back to me the following day and I ended up arranging an ADT alarm system. Pretty pleased to have it sorted, to be honest.

So I got a call from a very polite guy who knew my first name, saying he was ringing from Money Saving Expert. He asked if I was happy with my health insurance I supposedly got through them and hoped I hadn’t had to make any claims. Then he went on about setting up a full security check at my place. It felt like a total scam since I never got my insurance from MSE and I'm pretty sure they don’t do cold calls anyway.
