Some lady called herself E-on from Money Expert and said she was checking in with former clients to make sure we have the best offers around. I've never dealt with them before so clearly they got my info from somewhere dodgy. Don’t mix it up with Martin Lewis’s Moneysavingexpert. Total scam.

Upon picking up the call, I could distinctly hear the sounds of merriment in the background, as if he was surrounded by a group of friends. I greeted him with a simple "Hello," only to be taken aback when he mentioned my name and the town where I reside. Considering he called my mobile, there’s no way he could have deduced that from the area code alone. He proceeded to chat about the ongoing energy crisis, inquiring about my gas and electricity situation. Quite unnerved, I decided to end the conversation abruptly.

Some bloke called me, said his name was Sam, claimed he’d rung me earlier about my gas bill. I vaguely remember him, seemed to know my supplier alright. At first, he said he was from some watchdog group comparing energy deals, sounded quite professional. But when I wouldn’t hand over my sort code and bank details, he got a bit shirty, insisting it was safe and no one could access my account. Then suddenly he said he was from British Gas. Just a heads up to anyone else who gets a call from this guy.

Adam rang me twice today wanting to chat to my husband and even called him by his name. He said he was from Scottish Power and that my husband had supposedly asked him to check in every now and then! Bit odd, right? Then he started asking if we were happy with our broadband provider too. Just got off the phone and he was trying to be all friendly and have a laugh. When will these scammers wake up and stop bothering honest people? Don’t bother calling again Adam, I’ve made a note of your number. Why not get a proper job and be proud of it?
