Someone called me pretending they were from O2.

Got calls from someone claiming to be with O2, saying they had a new cheaper phone contract deal. They kept pushing me for my bank card info so they could do some sort of credit check. Really dodgy, cos after that the calls just kept coming from different numbers, some from Wales, then Scotland, even one from London. Definitely sounded like a scam to me.

Got a call from a bloke who sounded Asian, said he was calling on behalf of O2. Bit strange tho cos I use a totally different mobile provider.

Received a call earlier today from someone masquerading as O2. The woman on the line had a notably thick Indian accent, and when I was passed to another chap, he had the same accent. They were touting some fantastic offer that was supposed to be available even if I’m not currently an O2 subscriber. They texted me some codes, which I deliberately misread. I kept them chatting for a bit longer just to use up their time. Once I mentioned that I thought it was a scam, they got all defensive and started spewing a load of nonsense. I simply thanked them and ended the call.

The caller ID indicated it was from Portree on the Isle of Skye, which seems a bit off for O2 to have a call centre there, don’t you think? 🤔 I ended the conversation and tried ringing back on a similar number… and instantly blocked it. Better safe than sorry!
