Some bloke said he was from Virgin Media offering to let me keep my current phone and number for £8 a month... I just told him to get lost and bugger off.

Someone rang me saying they were from O2, but I wasn’t convinced and just ended the call. After searching the number online, it turns out loads of folks say the same number is pretending to be different companies. Best thing is to not trust it and just get in touch with your actual provider yourself if you’re worried.

On the 19th of June, I made three comments here that go into detail about how to block these scam calls. There’s about 15 comments below that one explaining step by step what everyone should do. If all the people in the UK who get bombarded with these scam calls and texts each day actually took these steps, we'd make a real dent in this nonsense. Don’t just expect someone else to sort it out. It only takes a few minutes. I’ve bookmarked the Action Fraud site and have also shot an email to my MP. It won’t work if only a few of us act.
