Got a call from 01442 2734095 and ended up booking something for Friday 18th August 2023 without really thinking. Later I checked this number here and it seemed a bit dodgy, possibly a scam. Tried ringing back but just got a constant busy tone. Then I found a website for Green Carbon Energy Solutions Ltd at www.gces.uk and spoke to a woman there. She told me that the number they called from was just for outgoing calls and denied it being a scam. She offered to cancel my appointment, which I’ve done now. Not sure what to believe though, seems a bit fishy.

Got a call from 01422 734095, seemed like an energy scam. The bloke claimed to be from some Green Energy firm linked to British Gas, mentioning a survey for the winter warmer scheme. He wanted to set up a 15-minute appointment the next day. I asked for their company name and website so I could check things out myself. He said their site was GCES.CO.UK but then hung up straight away. I tried to visit the website and it’s totally fake, no such page exists. Definitely dodgy.

It’s pretty pointless just blocking numbers since the scammers just ring back from new ones. I reckon reaching out to your local MP, like mentioned below, could be worth a shot! Only if loads of people do it though, then maybe they’ll listen. They do have the tech to stop this, but it needs pressure to push phone companies into using it properly.

some bloke rang me, wanted to know my name and mentioned that 'technicians' would be around my neighbourhood the next day. he named companies like ed, powergen, and other big energy firms. then he said my home is supposedly on a list for badly insulated houses needing quick fixing. i said no thanks. this is the fifth time this number has called me. each time, a different person with a new story. i’ve blocked the number and made sure i’m still signed up with the telephone preference service.
