my nan got a call from some guy who said he needed to inspect her windows because of gas prices or something. he mentioned he’d be bringing along two other lads with him for some sort of training. then out of nowhere he starts asking if she lived on her own, if she has a dog or even an alarm system! honestly, what a creep!

I had a right scare when my elderly grandmother received a call from some bloke claiming he needed to come round to inspect the windows, all because of the skyrocketing heating and gas expenses. What raised my eyebrows was when he started poking into whether she had a security alarm, a dog, and if she was on her own in the house! To top it off, he mentioned that he’d be bringing along two other chaps for training purposes. I'm firmly convinced this is dodgy behaviour and a scam in the making.

He went on about how I could receive a payout of £3000 for it! Naturally, he then proceeded to ask for my bank information. Quite the nerve, I must say!

A man phoned my elderly mother from this number, claiming to represent British Gas. He was bombarding her with questions, and she struggled to keep up, asking him to slow down. Abruptly, he ended the call, leaving her quite baffled. Thankfully, she remembered to check the number using 1471. To top it off, my mother doesn't even have gas connected to her home!

A gentleman rang my elderly mother from this number, claiming to represent British Gas and that he was following up on some information. My mother believed he referred to her gas boiler, which she has, albeit powered by bottled gas. She provided him with her address after repeatedly asking him to slow down, as he was speaking at a breakneck pace. Ultimately, he just hung up on her. After that, she dialled 1471 to trace the number. Given that she lives alone, I’ll be notifying the police by calling 101.

The first time, they asked if my husband could join the chat, and when I said no, they just hung up. The second time I told them we weren't free.
