my nan got a call from some guy who said he needed to inspect her windows because of gas prices or something. he mentioned he’d be bringing along two other lads with him for some sort of training. then out of nowhere he starts asking if she lived on her own, if she has a dog or even an alarm system! honestly, what a creep!

Got a call on my nan’s phone, some bloke saying he needed to come round and check the windows 'cause her heating and gas bills were massive. Then he started asking if she had an alarm, a dog, and whether she lived by herself. He also mentioned he’d be bringing a couple of mates with him to train them or something. Seems dodgy to me, I reckon it’s a scam.

I got a call from someone pretending to be an insurance agent, saying it was about a small car accident I supposedly had. They told me I could claim around £3000 as compensation. Of course, they then tried to get me to give out my bank info! Pretty obvious scam if you ask me.

This number called my mum who’s elderly, saying they were from British Gas. He started asking her loads of questions and she gave him the address. Mum had to ask him to slow down because he was rattling on so quick. Then out of nowhere, he just ended the call. She did a 1471 to check the number after. Thing is, my mum hasn’t got gas piped in at all.

Some bloke rang my elderly mum from this number claiming to be with British Gas, saying he was checking something related to her. Mum thought he said something about her gas boiler - which she does have, but it runs on bottled gas. She ended up telling him her address. He spoke really quickly, so she had to ask him to repeat himself a few times, and then he suddenly hung up. She managed to do a 1471 to get the number. She's going to report it to 101 since she lives on her own and it felt a bit dodgy.
