Got a call from someone pretending to be a technician offering to do an energy survey for insulation tomorrow nearby. When I told her I wasn’t interested in a time slot, she quite nicely just ended the call.

Honestly, would you really open your door to someone who rings out of the blue with such a vague excuse? It’s worrying, especially with energy costs being through the roof, that some folks might agree to this without thinking. You never know what their real intentions are.

On the 22nd of October 2021, my elderly parents, who are quite vulnerable, received an unsolicited call from an unknown company attempting to peddle solar panels for their grade 1 listed home. Given the restrictions on such properties, it’s clear that installing panels isn’t as straightforward as they were led to believe. They were informed that a representative would arrive on Monday, the 24th of October 2021, to collect a deposit-how ridiculous! Thankfully, we managed to cancel before any money changed hands, but I have a sinking feeling this isn't the last we'll hear from them. It’s baffling how they obtained our phone number, although they somehow already had the address on file. The name of the company was either Pixaway or Pixabay; I can't recall which.

I reckon these chaps are a bit dodgy. I received a call from a seemingly young lad, claiming to be in his first week on the job. He said he was with an energy efficiency firm surveying homes in my neck of the woods in the North East. He requested to set up an appointment, mentioning he'd ring me back after visiting a neighbour's place. I was completely baffled! When I asked him to ring the next day, nothing came of it.
