Got a call from a bloke who sounded a bit daft, but he somehow knew my name and where I lived. Said he was from some energy company and wanted to do a survey since their team would be nearby the next day. I told him I wasn’t interested, and he just made some weird noise and ended the call. Seriously, what happened to the TPS? Doesn’t it stop these calls anymore?

I got a call from 01422734096 on 22/03/2022 claiming they were working for a government agency doing a survey on energy efficiency in my neighbourhood. They called me by my last name and said they got my details from my electricity and gas providers, which I found odd. When I mentioned that I no longer live at that address (moved out six years ago), they didn’t seem to have any idea, which made me suspicious straight away. I checked with my energy supplier and they confirmed it was a scam. Just so you know, I live in a retirement community, so was really surprised by this! 😳

Got a call from this number back on 10th March 2022. They claimed they were scheduling a visit to check the insulation in my home under some government programme. When I tried ringing them back to cancel, the line was completely dead. Looks like it could be a scam to me.

Got a call from 01422 734096 on 17th Feb 2022 around quarter past twelve. Caller knew my last name but, like loads of other people from East Asia, said it all wrong. They said they were conducting a survey about energy consumption and even got my street right. I cut them off, told them I’m on the TPS and they shouldn't call me unsolicited, then just ended the call.

I got a call from someone using my exact name and address, trying to book an appointment with an agent tied to one of the major energy providers. They said it was to assess the energy efficiency of my home and provide a certificate. When I tried to confirm this appointment, the phone number they gave me just wouldn’t go through.

Today at around 2.08 in the afternoon, my landline rang but when I answered, there was silence on the other end though I could hear people chatting faintly in the background. Pretty frustrating since my number’s on the TPS list. I tried to find out the number through 1471 but couldn’t get through when I tried calling it back, neither by pressing option 3 nor by dialling it directly.

Some bloke rang me saying his firm worked with big energy providers and they were offering a free deal. When I asked how he got hold of my number, he said there’s a website listing energy consumers like me. I told him that’s rubbish - no such site exists. He stayed polite though and insisted the service was free, promising to take my details off their list.

Today, I got a call from a lady speaking with a Yorkshire twang, saying the national energy foundation planned to visit tomorrow to see if our home was wasting energy. When I asked which energy firm was conducting the checks, she mentioned something about the “big 5”. I declined the offer for a visit, and she chuckled before nicely wrapping up the call. Not sure if it was a scam, but it definitely seemed like some sort of fishing attempt to me.
