Received a rather peculiar call earlier this week. The chap on the line addressed me by my full name and claimed to be ringing from… (couldn't quite catch that bit) before launching into a spiel about some supposed car accident I was involved in. The thing is, I’ve never owned a car, let alone had any mishap with one! I made it clear to them that this was a nonsense and accused them of being a cold caller before promptly ending the conversation. Ridiculous, really!

She even used my name (how are they getting my info?!) and told me someone had contacted them about an unpaid second payment linked to a small car accident. I was tied up at the time, she said she'd ring back but never did. Definitely blocking that number! Looks like these scammers are dropping the robo-calls and now calling people directly. Got a call from someone claiming to be from Alter Assist or maybe Alta Assist, chatting about a crash that never took place. I humoured them for a bit but it quickly got tedious - they kept asking about the accident, what bits of the car were broken and how it all went down. Total rubbish. After a while, fed up with the same spiel, I dropped the old man act I was using and then they just hung up. Not a moment wasted on their nonsense.

This automated ladies voice told me I was part of some accident thing, and since I actually was in one a few years ago, I said yes. Then, suddenly it put me through to this bloke from India who hardly spoke English. After about 5 minutes, I already had my card ready, about to give him my details!
