Got a call from someone asking for me by my old surname which I haven't gone by in more than two decades. When I told them that was wrong, they quickly said sorry and ended the call. I was about to explain that it's been ages since I used that name. After finding this site, I decided it's best to just block the number now.

I just got a ring from this number claiming to be from C & A Insurance about some accident they said I was involved in. Problem is, I’ve not been in any crash recently! Feels like one of those dodgy call centres abroad having a punt. Sorted it by blocking the number straight away!

Got a call from a Glasgow number, but the woman speaking had a strong Indian accent. The connection was really poor and I kept hearing my own voice bounce back. She told me I’d been in a minor car accident, which is totally untrue. As soon as I heard that, I hung up immediately without sharing any details. I’ve since blocked the number.

Got a call from a young woman today who kept saying I’d been in a car crash sometime in the past two years. I told her I hadn’t even been behind the wheel for more than two years. That’s the only reason she finally admitted she’d got it wrong. Absolutely ridiculous!

Right from the start, I reckoned this was dodgy. Some firm was asking if I’d got paid yet for a so-called ‘minor accident’ - which I definitely hadn’t. I told the bloke it was quite serious actually, since my coffee spilled all over the cream seats and wrecked them. That’s when he just cut me off.

So, I got a call from someone named Ben, said he was from a firm called Auto Assist, saying I’d been in some accident. I asked him how he even got my number, and he said from the UK insurance database. I told him my number’s registered with the TPS, and I want it taken off their list. I’m definitely going to report this lot to TPS.

Just got a call saying my car had been in an accident sometime in the past couple years. Ha! I couldn’t help myself and said it must’ve been my hubby’s fault, that I was furious and it was definitely the final straw, I was planning to leave him. I asked for her details so I could call her as a witness in the divorce case. Then the line suddenly dropped.

SCAM ALERT - Someone rang me saying they were from Auto Assist and that I had some uninsured losses I could claim back. They said they got my details from UKIG, but when I asked them which insurance firm I was actually with, they couldn’t tell me, only said UKIG, which they say runs all the insurance companies in the UK. I just ended up hanging up on them.

I explained I don’t own a car, don’t drive, and haven’t been in any vehicle at all, but the woman kept pushing like I’d been in it. I ended up being pretty sharp with her and hung up. Both my mobiles and landlines are on the TPS list, so someone’s clearly got hold of bits of info they shouldn’t have! Number’s blocked now. What a load of rubbish!

Got a few calls recently from numbers pretty much like this one, and they all ended up being scammers. I just let it ring off since I figured it was probably the same sort of thing. Typically, I don't engage with these types of calls, but today I thought, why not have a bit of fun? And truly, it was quite the amusement! This woman on the other end requested to speak to me by name-though, amusingly, she couldn't quite pronounce it! I mean, honestly, it's a straightforward name! There’s even a well-known tune by Dexys Midnight Runners featuring my name, which still gets airplay now and again. So, I chuckled and told her that if she couldn't figure out who she was trying to reach, I saw no reason to continue the conversation, and I promptly hung up. Normally, I use a nifty little voice modulator when dealing with these calls, and it adds to the hilarity-definitely something you ought to give a go! The number is now on my blocked list.

Got a call from a guy speaking very clearly and with a strong accent, saying he wanted to talk about an accident I supposedly had. They actually knew my name and had my mobile number. I told him I hadn’t been in any accident and then just hung up. Watch out for these calls!
