When a number calls and I pick up, half the time they just hang up straight away. Seems like it’s their usual trick. They want you to call them back, but that’s when things get messy for your money. If you do call, say bye bye to whatever's left in your bank. Always reminds me of that phrase, "curiosity killed the cat." Yeah, it can tank your finances too.

I received a rather dodgy call today from a bloke in Brighton, claiming to represent White Goods. He was attempting to peddle some sort of warranty for my ancient washing machine! It’s blatantly a scam that’s been doing the rounds for ages!

A chap with a peculiar accent rang up and had a chat with my wife. Initially, he failed to disclose which company he was representing. He then went on to say he was contacting her about some insurance for household appliances. He offered a two-year policy at a discounted rate if she paid right away. I was shouting, 'It's a scam, just hang up!' but my wife, being the polite soul she is, didn't want to be rude. In the end, she asked him to send the information in writing. Not too long after, he called back, hounding her again. I had to step in and ended the conversation. Shortly after, the phone rang yet again, and he addressed me rather cheekily, saying, 'Mrs ***** , do you ever pay attention to anyone?' I promptly hung up and made a note of his number - 01273 655242.
