Got a call from a bloke speaking with what sounded like an Indian accent, and the phone connection was pretty bad. He said he was calling from Sky Protect and started talking about some mail related to my Sky Box coverage running out. He tried to check my postcode but got it wrong straight away. That’s when I cut the call - if they can’t even get your postcode right, it’s obvious it’s a dodgy call.

Caller said he was from some warranty firm, calling himself Jacob. I just replied, “Sure thing, and I’m the Queen of England, buzz off.” Total washing machine con artist.

These nuisances gave our landline a ring earlier, and as per usual, they hung up sharp when the answerphone picked up. The number showing might be faked, so don’t take it for granted that it's really from Brighton (England). I reckon these scammers have their tech set to buzz loads of phones all at once, so I've adjusted the answerphone to pick up after just two rings. Hopefully, this will irritate them since ours is likely the first machine they end up hitting!

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent, sounded like he was from a call centre. He asked if he was speaking to me by name. I got a funny feeling and decided to play along, telling him he had the wrong person. He hung up straight away. After seeing these kinds of reports popping up, I’m certain it was a scam. I’ve blocked the number on my BT phone and also filed a report on the BT scam tracking website.

i got a call from someone with a strange accent claiming my washing maching insurance had run out. they said i could renew it right then and there if i gave my debit card details, and tried to sweeten the deal by saying it was a discounted price. but when i looked up my policy, it still had a couple months left. so i called them out on it and they just hung up on me. i told my actual insurance firm about it and they said it sounded like a scam.

Just like a few others mentioned here, I got a call about some washing machine warranty scam. They actually had my name, which was a bit scary. I told the caller I don’t own a washing machine and never have. I live in a tiny cottage in Wales and always use the local laundrette for my washing (didn’t mention that bit to them though). The person just ended the call after that.

Asked her about the pier and she had no idea what it was. Also, when I mentioned the train from London Terminus to Brighton, she couldn’t tell me how long it took or anything about it. Total scam, stay clear!

This individual appears to be trying to pull a fast one, aiming to gain access to your computer and erase everything on it - including sensitive details like your social media and banking logins. It’s best to steer clear of this lot!

it was a guy with an accent, maybe indian, who called me claiming to be from sky and said my insurance was about to run out. i told him straight away i don’t have any insurance with them. he quickly said sorry, must’ve got the wrong number, and then hung up. looks like another one of those scam calls people keep getting. i’ve blocked the number now.

So this number, 01273091185, rang me up and kept insisting I was some bloke called xxyyzz. I answered with a cautious “hello” a few times, but he just went on about some contract I supposedly had with Sky. I told him straight up I’d never had any deals with Sky at all. As I was hanging up bit by bit, I could hear him muttering “are you mr xxyyzz? are you mr xxyyzz?” like he wouldn’t take no for an answer. Sounds like they’ve got some of your info for some sketchy reason. Seriously, don’t give them anything.

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent saying they were from warranty services. They told me my Bosch washing machine was out of warranty since it’s 2 years old. The weird thing is, they knew my name, address and even details about the machine, like I never had any repairs done on it. They tried to sell me an extended warranty for £89.50, but I said no cheers and ended the call. Now I’m left wondering how on earth they got hold of all that info!
