He got caught up in one of those washing machine warranty scams, poor bloke. Tried to sell him a new washer that he wasn’t having any of. When I hung up, he was still going on in that thick accent, muttering something in what sounded like broken but understandable English.

Got a call from 01273 091181 which I believe is around Brighton. I’ve no clue who it could be since I don’t have anyone there or any reason to get a call. They didn’t even leave a message, just kept ringing. Seems like one of those nasty scam calls that hounds you. I’ve blocked the number and flagged it as suspicious now.

Just google ‘Action Fraud’, visit the police.uk site, and head to the reporting page where you can file it as a phishing scam. No need to sign up or register. The police rely on people reporting these scams so they can figure out how widespread and what kind of scams are going around. It’s the only way to eventually stop them for good.

Got a call from someone saying they were with the "Sky Protection Department," trying to get me to renew some policy I never even signed up for. I kept asking them for proof or any details about this so-called policy, but they couldn’t give me anything concrete. After a few tries, I just ended the call. Definitely sounded like a scam to me.

He said the warranty on my washing machine was nearly up and tried to sell me an extra year for £89, which he claimed was a proper bargain down from £120. Then he went on about a deal where if I bought two years then I'd get a third year free. I got the extended warranty for my washing machine, and since I bought all my stuff from AO, I’m pretty sure these guys must have got my info from AO somehow, whether that’s above board or not. I’m not planning on using AO again, might even think about using a pay-as-you-go number just for buying things in future.

Totally a scam, no doubt. The person on the phone claimed I had some kind of washing machine insurance that was up for renewal. Thing is, my washer’s still covered by the original maker’s warranty! They even had my name and address, which made me a bit uneasy. I didn’t commit to anything and told them I’d have to check my documents first. They called back later, but as soon as I told them I knew it was a scam, they hung up straight away!

This person said they were from the Insurance Department, but never mentioned any specific company. Definitely a scam. I told them off with some choice words, but they rang me back before I managed to block the number. After that, they kept trying a few more times, even though I had the number blocked.

I wasn't able to take this call, but I gave the number a ring back, even though it seemed rather peculiar and not at all like a typical Brighton number. When I did call, it was an automated response, with some rather jolly tunes playing in the background while I waited to speak with someone. After about half a minute, I decided to hang up-it just felt a bit strange.
