Some bloke with an Indian accent rang up claiming to be from Virgin Media, saying my internet was hacked or something. He asked if I’d shared my password with anyone and wanted to know what kind of phone I had. Then he told me to download some app from the App Store. Luckily I sussed it was a scam and hung up straight away!

Got a call at home today from someone claiming to be with Sky, saying my internet was hacked and that I needed to open Safari on my phone. They refused to verify any of my personal info. I even had two people switching the phone back and forth trying to convince me it was genuine. Absolute joke.

I received a call from someone claiming to be with Virgin Media regarding a supposed hacking issue. I opted to feign confusion, like a distressed elderly lady, but eventually mentioned that it was making me quite unwell, prompting me to end the conversation. There was just quiet for a bit, then the person said "Goodbye" and ended the call. Sounds like one of those auto-dial calls from some call centre where all the agents are busy and couldn’t pick up quick enough. They aren’t calling you personally or anything, they just blast out a list of numbers, probably going through a whole range randomly over a day or maybe a few days. Seriously, don’t bother ringing back, it’s pointless.

There was this really intimidating tone, but they didn’t say anything clear - just kept saying I’d lose my NI benefits if I didn’t press 1 to talk to someone. I got a call from some muppets saying they were from Carphone Warehouse - which is funny because that place doesn’t even exist anymore, rebranded to Currys ages ago. They promised me a brand new iPhone 13 Pro for just £10 a month. I ended up wasting about 15 minutes chatting with these clowns, and everything they said was pure rubbish. I only stuck around to make sure they didn’t get through to someone vulnerable who might have actually believed their nonsense. I’ve reported the number to Ofcom. They said their office was in Bromley, London, but I reckon the call centre is offshore and they’re just routing calls through Wales or somewhere else. My advice? Just block the number or, if you’re bored, have a bit of fun messing with these scammers.

Today I got calls from about five different numbers I didn’t recognise, so I just let them ring out and left them to voicemail. When I played back the messages, it sounded like the caller was in a moving car because of all the noise from traffic, but nobody actually spoke.
