Total scammer. I played along for a bit, gave them a fake name and birthdate. Then they asked for my address to send the phone, and weren’t pleased when I said it was a PO box. But once I said it matched my bank’s address (which obviously wasn’t true), they stopped complaining and took it. Managed to waste about 15 minutes of their time while I worked from home. Planning to file an FOI request with Ofcom to see who’s behind the number and maybe charge them for my time!

I received a rather alarming recorded message claiming that there’s an arrest warrant out for me due to tax evasion. The accent was a dreadful American one-sounded like something straight out of a 1970s detective series.
