It’s not an actual person, just a recorded message making it seem like you’re chatting with someone. Best thing to do? Hang up straight away, don’t bother sharing any of your details. They ring from loads of numbers that look alike as well.

Heads up - this is a total energy rip-off. They ring you multiple times daily, switching up the phone number by tweaking the last three digits. You block one number, then another very similar one calls right after, tricking you into thinking it’s someone new. This annoying cycle keeps happening for days on end. Be careful!

So it turns out that Chris, Tom, Craig, Simon, and Patrick all come under the name of Stuart Wright, born on the 19th of January 1965. This number is traced back to 21a Plymouth Road, Barnt Green, Birmingham, B45 8JF, under Stuart Wright’s name. At least now we’ve uncovered this chancer's residence! It’s no surprise he’s got an impressive mansion worth an absolute fortune - it’s probably funded by his dodgy dealings! He appears to be a bit of a tech whizz, and I reckon he's the mastermind behind all those annoying loft insulation scam calls.

Just got a call from 01202143201, which looks a lot like some other dodgy numbers starting with 01202 that I've been getting lately. Didn’t leave a voicemail or anything. I’ve read elsewhere that these are probably scams as well. Definitely seems fishy.

they used this number today. Yesterday it was 01202143177, the day before 01202143169, and the day before that 01202143161. some energy advisor called chris claiming he was working in the area and offering a free loft insulation check. I spoke to him yesterday and said I wasn’t interested, but when he rang again today I warned him I’d report him for harassment if he called once more. he ended up hanging up on me. don’t be fooled by how friendly they sound. this isn’t something that should happen if they ever get inside your house.

this number has been ringing me loads lately, and most times i let it go to voicemail - never get a message though, which screams scam to me. they just rang once more and this time i answered before checking who it was. some lad called himself "alex" from a place called the solar centre, sounded pushy and quite loud. i just told him “no thanks” and ended the call pretty quick. definitely dodgy. scams like these are everywhere now. be careful out there, everyone.

Just like the other remarks here, it seems that Chris - if that’s indeed his name - has been quite persistent. He rang once on Wednesday, twice yesterday, and again today. When I inquired about the company he represents, he claimed to be from an insulation firm based in South London, mentioning that he manages homes in our postcode vicinity. Curiously, when I quizzed him on what our postcode actually is, he abruptly ended the call. Quite dodgy behaviour, if you ask me!

I've encountered this with "Patrick" and "Alex" before... now it seems "Chris" has joined the mix.
