So I pointed out his number comes up as Bournemouth, which is like 130 miles away, hardly local at all. After that, he just ended the call. I got a call from someone saying he was Tom. He claimed our loft insulation might cause damp issues but then said it’s no problem and offered a free survey or something like that. Thing is, we don’t have any insulation at all, so they must have just found the number somehow. This is the 6th time we’ve had calls like this since late October. The numbers change a bit, but they all start with 01202. I saw some local councils, like Norfolk, Herefordshire, and Isle of Wight, have warnings about these calls on their websites.

This phone number is linked to the residence at 21a Plymouth Road, Barnt Green, Birmingham, B45 8JF, under the name of Stuart Wright. Well, at least we've uncovered the dwelling of this fraudster! It's rather fitting that he's residing in such an impressive house, considering his penchant for swindling others!

I try blocking them but the last three digits always change, so the calls just keep coming. There's not much I can do about it. They told me not to ring back. What I tend to do is engage them in conversation and prolong the call as much as I can. It not only eats into their time but also prevents them from pestering someone who may be less discerning. If you respond harshly, they often hang up straight away. However, if you’ve got a spare moment, give it a whirl and see just how long you can keep the dialogue going… just make sure to withhold any info that might be of use to them!
