Some guy called ‘Simon’ saying he was a local installation advisor. I’ve had nearly a dozen calls today from similar numbers - just the last three digits keep changing. I keep blocking them but they keep coming back. Eventually I picked up and told him I wasn’t interested, that I knew it was a scam and asked him to stop calling, then I hung up and blocked the number. Hopefully that’ll do it but who knows. I received a rather condescending phone call from someone named Simon, who was keen to discuss a grant for installing loft insulation. He seemed a bit too eager and implied I was lagging behind others in seizing this opportunity, using all the old ‘Fear of Missing Out’ tactics. When he asked about my age group, he claimed it was relevant for determining subsidy amounts, but he never bothered to find out if I even had a loft. I live in a flat, and the lofts are communal spaces looked after by the managing agents, so I have no say in that matter. I dare say I wasted plenty of his time, just as he tried to waste mine. As an added annoyance, I’m registered with the Telephone Preference Service, meaning those cheeky marketing calls are definitely off-limits in the UK.
