Oi, just a heads up about those dodgy curry place calls - total scam alert!

Don’t answer these calls, it’s a scam. They’re using a UK number but it’s really some call centre in India pretending to be from the “Energy Department.” Total spoof job.

Watch out, sounded like an Indian bloke with a strong accent, definitely felt like a con artist.

Got a dodgy call at work from someone claiming I'd owe £3,000 and my service would be disconnected in a week. I told them I wasn’t in any debt, and they got really annoyed, insisting I listen and that I was mistaken. The bloke had a strong accent and mentioned he was from NG Energy, supposedly the parent of EDF, which I know is French and probably state-run. Total scam if you ask me.

They called up and straight away started asking for my credit card info. Felt really dodgy to me.

I got a call from someone saying they were from Cobana Energy Ltd, but when I asked for their address, they gave me a dodgy London location. It was clear they weren’t being honest, and they got really annoyed when I tried to get more info about their company. Even after I hung up, they kept ringing me again and again, just being really annoying.

Looks like it was one of those utility scams.

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be from the gas and electric provider, but he wouldn’t say which one. I called him out as a total con artist and a nasty scammer, and he just laughed before hanging up.

This number is just a nuisance - best to steer clear of it!

This was clearly one of those dodgy utility scams. They claimed I owed money for my electric bill. I joked back that I’m actually nicking my power straight from a streetlamp I rewired myself (truth is, my rent covers utilities). Before I could really give him a piece of my mind, he ended the call.

This has all the hallmarks of a con - claimed to be calling from British Electric Company.

There was nothing but quiet on the other end. I guess he was just waiting for whatever software he uses to pop up so he could start his usual spiel about electricity charges.

It might have been a call regarding electricity sales, though I couldn't really make out much of what the person on the other end was saying. I ended up engaging them in some light banter for a little over five minutes, which was quite amusing!

Some idiot from Asia gave me a bogus phone number, couldn’t even say it right. Total #### spam caller, what a waste of time.

Got a call about an electricity deal, my boss told them we weren’t interested and nicely tried to finish the call. But they rang straight back and kept going like nothing had been said. So, I just blocked the number.

A strong accent on the line, and they claimed to be ringing from the ‘city department’.

Got a call from someone with a thick Asian accent, they wanted to talk to the person who runs the business. They were probably trying to sell some kind of electricity deal, but their English was so bad it was tricky to understand. Sounds like a scam to me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Kobana electricity, saying they needed to talk to the business owner. I tried to check who they were by asking some standard security questions, but as soon as I put them on hold, they just hung up. Definitely seemed like a scam.

I've been inundated with nuisance calls at my place of work, and what's irritating is that each time they ring, they have a new excuse lined up. They’re constantly attempting to reach out to “the owner,” yet they keep using my name instead, which causes them to abruptly end the call and attempt to get through again later in the week. This merry-go-round has been going on for nearly a month now, and it’s really becoming tiresome!

The way they spoke was really off, like they were just reading something written down, and their English wasn’t great at all.
