Got a call from an Asian woman saying she was with Domestic and General about my washing machine warranty running out. I told her I’d usually want something in writing first, she said I had to fill in a form. I said I’d ring D & G myself because I don’t deal with stuff over the phone. She said I couldn’t get through because of Covid, I told her to email me instead. She got a bit annoyed and said she’d post me the details. Checked my policy and my warranty is fine. This is the 6th suspicious call I’ve had in the last fortnight.

Phoned my mum about 9 in the morning on the 6th of Nov. She’s a bit hard of hearing and couldn’t make out who it was, so she just ended the call. She asked me to look into the number. There’s been quite a few annoying calls like this around Edinburgh. It’s not the first time they’ve rang her. My missus got a call from some woman (maybe Chinese?) who seemed to know everything about our washing machine’s warranty. She even gave her name and said she worked for the warranty company, claiming the warranty ended today and asked for bank info to start a new direct debit, apparently because of COVID or something. My missus didn’t give any details and rang our actual provider who said it’s a scam. Just a heads up, never ever give your bank details on the phone! These folks are absolute rubbish and should be stopped.

Got a call claiming to be from general domestic, saying my direct debit was going down because of lockdown. They really try to get you to just say OK. That instantly made me suspicious, coz just agreeing could mean they can take money out of your bank. Proper dodgy and risky stuff. By the way, we don’t even have domestic general insurance.

SCAM ALERT!!! 100% dodgy call! This conwoman said my warranty was about to expire. I asked what machine it was for, since I run a laundrette and have loads of washers. She said Hotpoint. Well, guess what? I don’t have a single Hotpoint anywhere near me! Complete rubbish.

Got two calls from this number this morning, both showed up before 9 am. Didn’t get any voicemail or anything, sounded like some kind of automated message that didn’t come through right. Really frustrating especially when you’re waiting for an important call, other times I’d just let it go to answerphone.

Got a call at about 2:30 this afternoon, some person saying my washing machine insurance had run out. They said they were from D&G and tried to sell me a renewal for £8.99. I asked them if they could send me something in writing and a few more questions, then the line just went dead. I checked with D&G myself and they told me it was a scam. I've blocked the number now.
