Somebody called me claiming to be from Domestic General about our washing machine. We actually have a contract with them for it, but I was rushing to pick the kids up from school so I told her to ring later. She seemed really confused by that, which made me feel uneasy and that's why I checked this site. I’m kinda hoping she rings again so I can be sure they’re just scammers...

Problem is, I don’t have any such cover with them. I asked for a policy number, but they kept saying they'd email the details instead. I gave them my email, but never got anything through. Tried calling the number back and it just wouldn’t connect. Pretty dodgy if you ask me.

Got a call today from a bloke with an Indian accent claiming to be from Domestic and General about my washing machine warranty. He told me I didn’t have any coverage left! I shut it down and blocked the number straight away. Wouldn’t recommend picking up if this number rings you.

Got a call from someone saying they were with Domestic & General about my washing machine warranty. I asked, "Which machine exactly?" and they said, "Your Samsung washing machine." I told them I'd sold that ages ago. Then they quickly switched to, "No, I mean your Hotpoint." I told them I don’t own one. They sounded surprised and asked, "So you don’t have a washing machine at all?" I said, "I do, just bought a new one last week." After that, they just hung up. Bit of a shame, I was actually enjoying the chat.

Got a call from this number saying our Bosch washer’s guarantee was up. They somehow knew our address and postcode. Claimed to be from Domestic & General, which is who we use for appliance insurance. My missus wasn’t convinced and said she’d call D&G directly, then they just hung up.

Got a call from some lot claiming to be D&G, pushing extended warranty on washing machines. I decided to play along for a bit to see what they wanted. They tried to get my date of birth, phone number and email, but I told them I had none of those! After a while, I asked them about the make and model of my washing machine. She said they don’t track that, but then gave me a serial number SN212147938 which sounded totally made up. Honestly, don’t give these types any details, they’re just scammers.

Heads up, got called by some bloke named “Anthony” claiming to be from Domestic & General about my washing machine warranty expiring and offering a discounted renewal. Thing is, my warranty is still valid. Plus, he couldn’t tell me the price I’d been paying before, and the “discount” he offered was actually more expensive than my current deal. When I pointed out all the mistakes, he just ended the call. Be careful, this sounds like a total scam.

This is the second time someone’s called me claiming my washing machine warranty had expired. The caller said he was from Domestic & General, but when I told him my washing machine was covered by an extended warranty from Currys until 2024, he just ended the call. Definitely a scam!
