Some woman rang asking all sorts - if I owned the house, what brand my washing machine and freezer were, whether I had a dog, and if I had life insurance. I just fed her rubbish answers and then ended the call.

Pretending to be from Carphone Warehouse, these nobs have been ringing me weekly from various new digits. Classic scam alert!

There was this guy on the phone with a strong accent I couldn’t quite catch, so I just ended the call because it made no sense to me.

I received a call from an unfamiliar number, so I chose to let it go to voicemail. Just a few minutes later, they tried again. When I picked up, there was no response on the other end, and they hung up shortly after. Curious behaviour!

Got a call from some lady with an Asian accent who kept telling me I should switch to a new phone and cut down my bill. She claimed she was ringing from Carphone Warehouse or something.

I’ve just discovered that it's linked to Carphone Warehouse 😟. My partner experienced a similar issue a few years back. He was fully informed about his O2 plan and rightly anticipated an upgrade. They dispatched a phone to him, but when he attempted to send it back, the number took him to a company called Sunspot in South Africa, which resulted in a rather hefty bill. O2 distanced themselves from the matter and claimed to have received multiple complaints regarding this. Best to avoid this and simply block the number.

I received a call purporting to be from O2, claiming they could knock 30% off my contract. However, they got rather dodgy when I mentioned I'd check the offer through the app. They insisted it was a phone-only deal, which raised my suspicions. So, I decided to end the conversation and said I’d call them back later. Seemed a bit too fishy for my liking!

Skies Telecom I've decided to block the number.

Got a call purporting to be from O2, insisting that my number is listed in their records. Trouble is, I haven’t been a customer of theirs for three years now. Just ended the call abruptly!

Got a call from someone claiming to be Car Phone Warehouse - definitely a scam. Come on Vodafone and the other networks, you’ve gotta do something about these numbers and block them! You’re the ones with the capability. It’s not fair to let this continue just for profit. So many older people get hassled and scared by these annoying calls. Please sort it out!

I received a rather unexpected phone call from Carphone Warehouse, and they were trying to entice me with a deal that offered unlimited calls, tech data, and overseas calls for just £10 a month. They seemed to have overlooked the fact that I’m still bound by my existing contract. Remarkably, they suggested that they would cover the costs of my current contract to persuade me to switch to this new option within the same company. I pointed out that it didn’t quite seem logical for them to pay off my existing contract just to offer me a new one that would cost me less than what I’m currently paying. I insisted on receiving this proposal in writing first. Then came the unexpected twist - they mentioned needing my bank details. I was quite taken aback, as I thought payments were usually processed through card details, not bank accounts. When I pressed them on this, they abruptly hung up. Quite the dodgy encounter, I must say!

Called me up, purporting to be from 'Phone House Company', then abruptly ended the call before I could ask anything further and subsequently blocked the number. Curious and rather suspicious!

I received a phone call from someone claiming to be with Carphone Warehouse, mentioning a discount of 50% on phones. It was an unexpected call, and when I told them I wasn't keen, they just kept prattling on, so I decided to hang up.

Got a call from 0114 356 0021 again today. I ignored it and they didn’t leave any voicemail. My phone flagged it as a possible spam number.

Received a call purporting to be from O2, suggesting I could enjoy a 40% discount on my outstanding contract. They mentioned that due to a significant loss of clientele during Covid, they’re eager to retain existing customers and are thus rolling out this generous offer.

Was away on holiday when my phone buzzed. Didn’t pick up and there wasn’t any voicemail either.

Got a sketchy call from 01228 234023 and then this number rang me too, pretending to be from Carphone Warehouse like the first one. I've blocked both straight away.

They keep ringing me up every single day, claiming to be from Carphone Warehouse but it's a complete con. They tried to trick me into giving my card info. I've told them I've looked up their number online and know it's a fraud, but they still call from all sorts of different numbers, places like Sheffield and Carlisle, so I can't even block them properly. Such a pain!

What a dodgy operation! The moment I picked up, they hung up on me. I tried ringing them again and was greeted by a recorded message saying, “Thank you for calling Skies Telecom.” (Just to clarify, it’s *not* “Sky”!) Every time I opt to speak to a representative, I find myself stuck in limbo. So infuriating! 😡💔

Didn’t pick up, which was probs for the best. Checked here first, it’s blocked now.

I received a call from an individual named Harry. Interestingly enough, I recently watched an episode of Radio 4's "You and Yours," aired on October 26th, 2021, which specifically discussed this type of scam. The con begins with Harry claiming to be associated with Carphone Warehouse. The ruse involves them sending out a phone at a heavily discounted rate. However, the device often turns out to be faulty or not even the correct model, prompting you to return it. By then, they've already acquired your banking information, allowing them to secure a contract under your name and address. Consequently, you inadvertently find yourself liable for a new contract with Vodafone (who, I must emphasise, are not at fault here). Thus, you end up footing the bill for a phone contract that you never intended to take on. Well, lo and behold, I received a call today (2nd November) from Harry, claiming once more to represent Carphone Warehouse. However, as far as I'm aware, Carphone Warehouse has now merged with Curry’s, and I distinctly remember from a previous episode of "You and Yours" that it has ceased to exist in its own right. What's more, Curry’s doesn’t initiate calls using the Carphone Warehouse name. So I urge anyone to remain vigilant; if someone claims to be from Carphone Warehouse, don’t entertain their requests. When I brought this up with Harry during our call, he abruptly hung up, moving on to try his luck with another unsuspecting victim.

Claims to be from Currys PC World, trying to sell a phone at an outrageously low price.

Received a call earlier today, but I chose not to pick up.

Most likely just spam. I let it keep ringing but there was no voicemail or anything.
