009999949 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 009999949 👆 is reported as a persistent nuisance number linked to scam calls, primarily impersonating Microsoft or technical support. Callers often feature Asian accents and attempt to convince recipients their computers are infected or at risk, seeking remote access or payments. Many report silence, hang-ups, or evasive behaviour when challenged. The calls frequently arouse suspicion due to poor knowledge of UK geography or generic responses. Vulnerable individuals, especially the elderly, are commonly targeted, causing distress. Users advise against engaging or providing information, recommending blocking the number and caution as genuine companies would not initiate unsolicited technical support calls. Despite multiple complaints, these calls remain a widespread issue with limited effective intervention from telecommunication providers or authorities.

I picked up the call and there was just some weird noise in the background, so I said hi and then they just cut off the call. Bit odd if you ask me.

The number 009999949 has rung me two times today. Seriously, why can't B.T. Telephone tech support put an end to these annoying calls? I mean, I already pay them a good chunk of money every year just for my phone service. It's really frustrating!

I received a call on the 7th of December and again today, on the 9th of December. Even though I noticed the number on my phone, I chose not to answer. However, when these annoying calls become persistent, I eventually answer and boldly declare, "You must be the scammers!" After that, they never use that particular number again or simply show up as "unavailable." Regards, Ann Onymous

This number has called me twice now. First a guy with an Asian accent yesterday, and today a woman, also Asian sounding, who said she was from the "Windows Technical Department". Definitely seems like a scam to me.

Dodgy call Got a call from an Asian lady, but I couldn’t really catch what she was saying. I told her I’m already signed up to the TPS. She claimed she was from something like the management office of the TPS. Then she asked if I was getting any junk calls, I said no, and she said I would be getting them soon, so I needed to get on my computer and block them in advance. Told her no thanks, that’s what the TPS is for, but she kept pushing me to use my computer. I said I don’t have one and that I’d end the call and check with the real TPS myself, then she just hung up on me.

I just got a phone call from this number. An individual with an Asian accent claimed to represent Microsoft Inc. They mentioned that there were a significant number of unauthorized transactions and suspicious files on my computer. Curious, I inquired about their location, to which they responded that they were calling from Microsoft HQ in Reading. When I asked them which county Reading was in, they immediately ended the call.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent who said he was "Dave Parker" from Microsoft Windows. He claimed my PC was infected and mentioned they’d had loads of alerts about it. He walked me through installing some supposed antivirus software, then asked for payment. Suddenly I found myself being sent to a sketchy Barclays site through Google. When I said this seemed fishy and asked for his contact info, he just hung up. Watch out for this one.

I got a call from a lady speaking with a Chinese accent asking me about my computer and specifically something to do with 'Word'. I wasn’t sure what she meant since I have a couple of devices with Word on them. When I asked her to clarify, she sounded annoyed and just ended the call. Pretty sure she would’ve started asking for my email and password next. Seems like one of those dodgy scam calls to me.

I received a call from an individual with an Indian accent who claimed to be from Microsoft. The person informed me that my computer was infected and needed immediate fixing. In response, I questioned the morality of engaging in a scam that adversely affects numerous lives and mentioned that he would have to answer to his God for such actions. Additionally, I pointed out that as an individual of Indian descent (which is true), his activities brought shame upon our community. Despite his insistence regarding my computer's vulnerability, he abruptly ended the conversation when I inquired about how he obtained my phone number.

He kept going on about the infection on my PC but when I pressed him on where he got my number from, he just hung up.
