I’ve got caller ID on my home phone, so I tend to ignore calls from unknown numbers. This one rang me, but there was nothing on the answer machine afterwards. I looked the number up and after seeing the reviews, I’m really happy I didn’t pick up. I’ve blocked the number now.

Loads of unknown numbers ring us constantly, so we usually just ignore them. After looking them up on various websites, it's clear most of these are dodgy calls or scams. Sometimes if we pick up accidentally, I just hang up and leave the phone off the hook for a bit, hoping it stops them from getting through again. These calls are really annoying - sometimes we have to rush downstairs to see who's calling and, since we’re retired and not as quick on our feet, it’s a real worry we might slip. Somebody really ought to do something about these nuisance calls.

Someone rang me saying they were from the National Accident Helpline, claiming my number was given to them after an accident I supposedly had. I told them it was a scam, but the bloke was really pushy and even gave me a fake name and car registration (definitely not mine). He refused to accept I wasn’t interested. I ended the call since I had better things to do, but it was oddly entertaining to mess with them and spin silly stories! Proper dodgy because they’re just trying to trick you into handing over info under false pretences.

I answered with a simple hello, then some bloke with an Indian accent started talking about calling from the National Accident Centre. I could tell it was dodgy right away, so I just said the only accident he’s getting is me smashing an axe over his head, told him to jog on, and ended the call. Doubt I’ll be hearing from him again.

He started asking about a no fault accident I supposedly had, which is odd because I haven’t been in any. He tried to pin it on a Vauxhall, so I asked what colour it was as I’ve owned a few (which I haven’t). Then I pressed him about the other car involved, but he only had vague info. When I kept asking for details, he just said it was a no fault accident. I kept questioning him about the colour, and he cheekily told me to “wash my head” because I was confused - made me chuckle. I reckon he remembered I once joked about him needing to flush his head down a toilet when I asked if they had restrooms in India. Before ending, he said he’d hang up, but I told him it was his call to ring me, so if he didn’t want to make money, fair enough... then I hung up.

I had a call around 5:05pm from someone with an Asian accent claiming to be from an accident support service. Told him to buzz off straight away. We’re registered with TPS and are ex-directory, so it’s baffling he managed to ring us. Proper irritating.

Today this number popped up but I ignored it completely, didn’t pick up or anything. Got caller ID so I just let it ring and didn’t bother answering. Seems better to avoid calls from unknown numbers like this.

This number kept ringing us non stop - about 9 times in less than 10 minutes! Each time it was an Asian bloke on the line, really irritating and wouldn’t give up. They claimed to be from Lloyds in Liverpool and even dropped a manager’s name, Martin Williams. I thought about calling the number they gave but then realised it was the exact same number that had been calling me repeatedly, so I just ignored it. Proper annoying that.

They always say UK data protection is strong, but it’s leaking all over the place! Feels like it’s just a cosy little club for mates, because these calls keep coming non-stop. Today around 5.50pm, I got a call from a man with an Indian accent on my ex-directory phone. He claimed to be from the National Accident Helpline and told me my daughter had met with an accident. But as I had just spoken to her and knew she was safe at home, I ended the call straight away.

Our new BT8600 answering machine has been brilliant at stopping annoying calls. Whenever a number rings that isn’t from the UK, the machine just ends the call straight away. We bought it recently, and since putting it in, no unwanted calls have disturbed us at home. Definitely a handy device!

This morning I got a call from the number above, some bloke with an Indian accent saying someone in my home had an accident. I kept saying I didn't know who he was, but he kept pushing to talk to the person involved. I told him straight up how dodgy and wrong his tactics were, then just left him waiting on the line. Eventually, I called back and ended the call. Proper scammy behaviour if you ask me!

Got a call from this number saying they had details about a car crash I was supposedly in. Weird thing is, I’ve never been in any accident. Got a call from someone claiming to be National Accident Helpline, saying they were collecting details for the DVLA. Turns out that name is already used by NAHL Group plc, so I told them they can't represent that company. Ended the call and blocked the number straight away. Be cautious, seems like it might be a scam targeting others soon.

I got a call from this number, and a guy with an Indian accent was telling me that a person living at my address was owed some money because of a car crash. Seems to me they’re fishing for your personal info like your name and bank details. From what I guess, they’d hold on for a bit and later try to frighten you by pretending they’re your bank, pushing you to transfer your cash into their accounts. Reminds me a lot of those “bank survey” calls where they try to sneakily grab your banking info.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent asking about an accident I supposedly had within the last couple of years. He mentioned a spot not far from me where the accident apparently happened, so it seems like he looked up some info beforehand. Then I started telling him about the accident, saying a UFO landed and I crashed into it. After that, he just dropped the call.

Got a call today from a really pushy bloke with an Indian accent, said his name was 'Mark'. He was asking about someone in the house who'd supposedly been in an accident. When I asked who exactly he was after, he couldn't give me a straight answer. Then I questioned how he found our number since it's supposed to be unlisted, and that’s when he just cut the call. Got a call from a strange number with the 00 code, probly from abroad or maybe a fake number. No answer when I picked up, just dead silence. Went ahead and blocked it straight away.

Got a call from this number earlier, which was strange because I’ve been in an accident not too long ago. I struggled to make out what they were saying, probably because of the thick accent and the awful background noise. I kept asking who they were but they never gave me a straight answer. They told me I’d been in an accident within the past two years but all they had to go on was my phone number. The bloke said he was a manager but never actually came clean about it being a sales call. I messed about with him for around five minutes before he finally gave up and ended the call.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent claiming to be from British Legal Help or something like that. The line kept cutting out and I could hardly make out what he was saying. I ended up hanging up and dialled 1471 to see who it was. When I looked up British Legal Help online, I couldn’t find a single thing about them. Honestly, it feels a bit sketchy to me.
