I've had this number ring me up about 9 times over the past couple of weeks. Every time I pick up, they just end the call straight away. It's really annoying - how on earth did they get hold of my number?

This morning got a phone call from someone pretending to be "Talk Talk" saying there were issues with my internet. I logged onto my computer to try fix the problems as they said. After a bit, they told me I was owed £200 back because my warranty had expired and offered to fix the errors if I renewed it. Then they asked for my card info - total scam! Trouble is, I'd already given them access to my PC, so now I need to have it properly looked over just to be safe.

Got a call from the same Asian woman twice, and I just decided to mess around with her. I pretended I knew nothing about computers, didn’t even know what a keyboard was, and just acted like I couldn’t follow a word she said. She kept trying to get me to go to the TeamViewer website and install their app. At the moment she asked me to do that, I told her to send me the steps by post and arrange a meeting that way. If you’ve got some time to kill, it’s quite entertaining winding up these scammers.

Back in March, I reported this issue to Talk Talk, and it seemed they had no clue about it at the time. Since then, we've been getting loads of calls all about the same thing. Funny enough, as soon as they hear a woman’s voice, they just say goodbye and hang up straight away.

Same story as what others have said, some supposed “tech support” from TalkTalk called me. I got really annoyed when I found out TalkTalk were already aware of the issue back on 15th Feb but didn’t warn any of us customers. I was lucky not to give away my bank details but I did let them onto my computer because I checked my account number and thought they were legit. TalkTalk had a contractor who had access to our personal info like names, addresses and account details and passed that info on to criminals, yet they never informed us. When I told them about it, they didn’t even admit there was a problem. I only discovered this from a headline in The Guardian on 15th Feb saying “Millions of TalkTalk customers at risk of fraud”. It’s pretty shocking.

They claimed I was with TalkTalk, which makes me think their contact lists can probably be purchased somewhere. When I asked them to give me my own name, they couldn’t. I stayed calm and told them they were actually ringing a police station and that I’m a police officer. I kept polite but explained they were violating the Data Protection Act from 1998 and kept asking for their names. After a while, they began shouting and swearing before just hanging up on me...

This person phoned me too and I told her, if she’s capable of putting a letter together, then she should just send me one instead of wasting my time on the phone. Then I hung up.

This number called me saying there was an issue with my software. When I asked who they were and to say it again, they just hung up on me straight away. I reckon people, especially older folks, should be warned about this number so they don’t get caught out.

Got a call from this number earlier, some woman pretending to be from TalkTalk saying my internet had an issue and she’d sort it out. When I told her everything was fine, she got really rude and kept insisting, “Madam, there IS a problem, I assure you!” so I just hung up. What’s really frustrating is they tried the same trick a few days back from a number that was similar but not the same, which I blocked already. Now they’ve switched to this one.

Got a call like this too, but as soon as I mentioned I usually use my tablet, the caller just vanished after I told her I'm not on my main computer. I've now passed the details and the number to TalkTalk to look into it.

When I spot a dodgy phone call, I just go with it since they’re probably coughing up for the call, maybe even from abroad. I call myself something like Michael M Ouse and have a premium number ready to throw back at them instead of my real phone or landline. I try to keep them chatting for ages. Sometimes I even try to flog them silly stuff like bike ashtrays or cooking gloves for the oven. Basically, I make the nuisance caller the one getting hassled.

Got a call from a woman who claimed to be from Talk Talk’s tech support, sounded Asian, said there was some issue with my internet and maybe a virus on my PC. She wanted me to turn on my computer so she could fix it. I told her to get lost and said it was a stupid trick, then she started insulting me... Total scam! Don’t let them catch you out!
