She claimed she was calling about my BT line and offered to cut my bill down to just £9. I told her to hold on a moment while I put her through to the telecoms department. Then, I played the cheesiest song I found on YouTube, pretending to look for the right extension. I said I was transferring her and to please hold, then switched my phone to speaker, cranked up the music, and wandered off. When I came back and picked up, she’d vanished.
