I got a text saying I’d been put into some kind of weekly lottery and to text back to opt out. I’d seen this message before and just ignored it. Turns out they were taking £4.50 every week from my phone credit! I had to lower my safety limit on my account down to zero so they couldn’t take any more dosh. Such a hassle!

I really hope they don’t charge me just for getting this annoying text, and then wanting to reply ‘stop’ only to find out it costs me. Fingers crossed!

Earlier today, we received a couple of messages regarding complimentary lottery tickets. We'll need to review our bill to find out what charges, if any, we've incurred.

Earlier today, I received a couple of messages suggesting we could claim free lottery tickets, all rather flimsy if you ask me. I simply replied with 'stop' and then got a follow-up message from Lottobytext saying, 'freemsg> request confirmed. There are no current services tied to this mobile number.' Fingers crossed this actually leads somewhere!

If you want to put an end to those pesky texts, just shoot a "stop all" message over to 177 - that should do the trick! I've come to the conclusion that it's a bit of a scam, and it's best to ignore these calls as they'll end up costing you a fortune. If you're after lottery numbers, just stick to purchasing them through the proper Lotto machines! Remember, Lotto was established as a charitable endeavour, so do your bit and support those causes!
