87070 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 87070 👆 is reported as a persistent premium SMS scam related to a shortcode linked to a Cyprus-based company called Mekersia. Many users have experienced unauthorised charges, typically £1.25 to £1.50 per text, accumulating substantial unexpected costs on their phone bills without consenting to any service. The scam often involves messages referencing grocery offers or adverts, sometimes linked to sites like Gumtree, despite recipients not signing up. Blocking the number provides limited protection, as charges may continue even without visible messages. Mobile providers generally advise texting “STOP” to the shortcode, though some users face difficulties sending this command. Refunds and billing caps vary by provider, with limited support reported. Vigilance is recommended, along with contacting your network promptly to prevent ongoing fraud.

Finally got my money back from that awful charge! I noticed £18 was being taken every month on my Three bill, just listed as shortcode 87070 with no clear info. After some digging, I found out it was a firm named MEKERSIA from Cyprus. I emailed them at [email protected] and they rang me back quickly, confirmed they’d cancelled my subscription and promised a refund in two weeks. And guess what? The refund has just appeared in my account! So relieved :)

I was charged £1.25 each for 13 texts from this number, but they don’t show up anywhere in my message inbox. No idea how they even got my number or what the messages were about. I’ve emailed customercare[###]@oxygen8[###] asking for my money back as I didn’t authorise these charges. Still waiting to hear back from them.

Just had a look at my 3 mobile bill and saw an extra £18 added for the last two months from this shortcode 87070. Weird thing is, I never got any texts from that number - maybe I blocked it without realising. I’m now trying to reach 3 customer service to stop this sort of dodgy charge from hitting my bill again.

I got charged £18 for texts from 87070 that I never actually signed up for. I only worked out what was happening after seeing my bill and noticing they were charging me £1.50 for each message. My phone provider just blocked the number but couldn’t do anything about giving me my money back. Feels like a total scam to me.

Just got my phone bill and nearly £10 of it is from a single number. I'm so annoyed! Called O2 and they said there's nothing they can do, I just have to reply "stop" to the message if it arrives. This is my work phone, which has automatic blocking turned on. I never signed up for anything with that number, so I have no clue how this is happening. Watch out, folks!

Just had another text from 87070, apparently from Mekersia, but they're actually in Cyprus - it's clearly a scam. Don't get why mobile providers let this go on, when will they crack down on these fraudsters?

For the past month, I kept receiving calls every day while using my Giffgaff account, but it was only recently I figured out what was going on. They charged me £30 in total at £1.50 each time. Oddly, none of the texts that came in ever appeared on my phone, which was really weird. I tried reaching out to Giffgaff loads of times, but their support was useless, so I’ve just given up on them altogether. I’ve now moved to a different network and got myself a new number. Honestly, it felt like a total scam. The number 87070, which Giffgaff provided, was part of the problem.

I've been getting texts from 87070 and it’s costing me £18! Tried blocking the number but the messages keep coming anyway. Really annoying how they just keep slipping past the block.

Tried to text STOP ALL but it kept saying message failed! Now I gotta wait till Three’s customer service opens at 9am. Proper frustrating, it’s actually caused a bit of a spat between me and my hubby!

Received a message from Pintegrity with some pin for my Grocery Offers, which seemed alright at first. Then I got a couple more texts from 87070, cost me £1.50 each time. The sender showed up as mekersia[###]. When I tried to stop it by texting STOP, they still charged me. Definitely a scam, so I reported it to my network and blocked the number straight away.

Got loads of texts from 87070 about groceries, kept hitting up 7726 and even spoke to O2 but the charges keep coming through. Honestly fuming, does anyone know how to put a stop to this?

Got loads of texts from 87070, said they’d charge £1.50 per message - dodgy! Blocked the number but weirdly still got billed. Really annoying.

Over the course of three days, I got three texts and they charged me £1.25 each time. I was quite lucky because O2 sent me a message warning about extra fees. I’ve now blocked that number and am sorting it out with O2. I never agreed to get any of those messages in the first place.

Got a text from 87070, said something about Gumtree but I don’t even use that. Didn’t reply to any messages but then got another saying I’d signed up for grocery alerts costing £1.50 per text. Ended up blocking the number straight away.

Got a text from 87070 with some name, mekersia[###]. Never signed up for anything like that and I don’t even use gumtree. No idea how they got hold of my number. I’ve reported it and also tried the stop text thing plus calling their landline but still getting messages.

i have tried texting STOP three times to 87070 but it just wouldnt go through. ended up forwarding the message to 7726 and spelled out SPAM to report it. dont worry, they dont charge u for reporting spam this way. its quite scary tho, they apparently got my number from gumtree - if youve put an ad up there, i'd seriously think about taking your number down.

Received three messages from 87070 over a few days saying I'd registered for groceryofferalerts[###], which is totally not true. Each text is costing me £1.50. Like another person mentioned, I only use this phone for Gumtree. I've already sent the third text along to the number suggested in the help section.

Got a text saying I'd signed up for something, but the number they messaged is only used for Gumtree. It's on an old phone that I don't really use for anything online, so I have no clue how I could have signed up for whatever it is. The only way I can think of is if it happened through Gumtree somehow? Makes me wonder if my info has been sold or leaked... really not happy about it.

Hi there! We recently found ourselves tangled up with this dodgy number, 02. Everyone kept insisting that I text "STOP" in uppercase to 87070. Oddly enough, the contact provided was from Opica Telecom at 08081 313131. Just thought I’d share my experience in case it helps anyone else out there. Cheers!

It seems we ought to consider changing our phone number quite soon. We really should get in touch with the telecom provider to block any premium rate calls so we can put an end to this hassle. Whatever you do, steer clear of the number provided to you, as it belongs to a premium mobile service, and you'll end up forking out a small fortune just to send a message.

Agnieszka Tomczak has shared a job listing via the Londynek platform. We attempted to sign up by sending a message, but it turns out that the text cost us a fiver, and we've noticed it's been deducted from our phone bill.
