Someone tried to scam me saying something about my TD card, but I don’t even have one. I just hung up straight away.

Heads up, this number is definitely spoofed! Even though it looks like the genuine TD credit card line, it isn’t. I ignored the first ring, but they kept calling - second time I sent it to voicemail, then on the third call, I picked up out of irritation. The person on the line said they were from TD’s Fraud department, asking if I made an Amazon purchase for about £800. I said no way. Asked for last 4 digits of the card to confirm, but they wouldn’t give it - said the card starts with 4520 88. I pointed out that all TD cards start like that anyway. Then they pressed me for the 3 digit code on the back. Absolutely not! Then they told me to google the number to “prove” it was TD. That’s when I ended the call - felt dodgy as hell. I rang TD Bank directly after and no such charge was pending. Watch out, people!

Just got a call from this number and thought it was TD Bank at first, but I rang TD straight away to check and they said it’s definitely not their number. So don’t bother calling back. Be careful folks, there’s some dodgy stuff going on with this number!

They tried to scam me by saying there were charges from all over the place, using some of my info they already had. Then they wanted me to hand over more details to “fix” it. Just rubbish, don’t bother replying.

That number is for a TD VISA card, you can find it on the card’s backside. They might be asking you to update your account details or something like that.

I looked up the number online before picking up and found out it was TD calling from their main office in Toronto. When I called back to ask why they contacted me, they responded clearly and sorted things out. If you just ask nicely, they will take your number off their calling list. Turns out, it’s a real person from TD answering the phone.

Can anyone confirm if this number really belongs to TD? We're a bit doubtful about it!

Yeah, we recently received a TD credit card which we haven’t even activated and for the past couple of weeks we’ve been getting calls from that number. Whenever we manage to pick up quickly enough, there’s no one speaking, they just hang up after a ring or two. Checked the statement and yep, that exact number is listed. Definitely not using this card, gonna bin it instead. Honestly, makes you question what’s going on with TD these days.

Honestly, it doesn’t set off any alarm bells. It’s the TD credit card centre that deals with folks from all sorts of branches. So, it’s pretty usual that the call isn’t coming from your local branch at all.

Don’t think this number is a scam. A mate of mine is employed at TD Bank’s credit card department. She rang me from this very number. I was a bit iffy about answering at first, but then she sent a text confirming it was her calling.

For a few months, I kept getting calls from them saying I owed money for internet service and that I had a cheque waiting because of an overpayment on my Telus accounts. I rang up Telus myself and they told me it was a scam. Definitely learned my lesson the hard way.

For the last two weeks, this number has been ringing me non-stop daily. Just today, they even left a voice message telling me to ring 18009838472 about some crucial info or visit the TD main branch in Toronto. honestly, how did they get hold of our personal details? This feels very wrong and makes me question whether keeping an account with TD bank is safe at all.

I've recently changed my phone number and almost right away, I started receiving calls from this same number. They usually don’t leave any voicemail, but eventually, an automated message from TD did come through. I checked and found this number actually appears on the TD website which was quite unexpected. It makes me question how these scammers can impersonate legitimate numbers so well. Also, it’s worrying to think about who might be handing out our mobile numbers to these fraudsters in the first place.
