I received a phone call at around 8 in the evening from a number listed as Canadian Tire Financial Services. A lady was on the line, informing me that the conversation was being recorded and that she was there to discuss increasing my credit limit from £6,000 to £7,000. I might have been a tad curt with her, but I did grant her permission for the conversation to proceed. I opted to keep the chat brief, conveniently omitting the fact that my actual limit with Canadian Tire is already £7,500. Consequently, I’ve decided to block the number 1-800-459-6415 from my mobile. Just another ruddy phishing attempt!

Absolutely fell for a proper scam claiming to be affiliated with Amazon’s security team.
Best to ignore any communication from them, as they’ll try to convince you it’s all in the name of tracking down the fraudsters.
They'll request sensitive details such as your credit card information, driver's licence, and bank particulars.
The platform they seem to favour is moonpay.10.
Whatever you do, keep your information close and don’t share a thing!

Today, I got a trio of calls from this number, claiming that my cards linked to Canadian Tire had been charged for a purchase amounting to $299.00. Oddly enough, I've been holed up in my house for the past three days, so I've had to cancel all my cards. Just a bit baffling, to say the least! 😠😠😠😠😠

I find it quite amusing that some folks are moaning about these calls. I decided to return the call and make it clear that I don’t possess - and have never possessed - a CT Madge card. The woman on the line suggested it was probably something to do with marketing for my rewards card. She kindly added me to the Do Not Contact list and mentioned it could take a week to kick in. Sorted!

When I rang this number again, it linked me straight to Canadian Tire's Mastercard service. The woman on the other end was named Karrina from a company called Contact Resources Services. Oddly enough, every time I check, the number appears as Canadian Tire Mastercard, and I mentioned this to her as well. The number is also listed as 1 888 771 5308. There's definitely something fishy about this situation.

Under current regulations, these callers can hound you incessantly, as long as they refrain from leaving voicemails or engaging you in conversation. They’re restricted to a mere two communications through messages or emails weekly. However, they often disregard these stipulations entirely. Ideally, they should issue a written notification before they commence their relentless calls. If you find yourself on the receiving end of their persistence, don’t hesitate to request their collection agency registration number from Ontario. Should they fail to produce one, they’ve no right to pester you. If they do have it, they’ll likely recognise that you're clued up and may well ease off on their annoying tactics.

I received a phone call from this number claiming they needed to confirm my details prior to playing a "recorded message." When I inquired further about the nature of the message, they were rather vague and didn't provide any clarity. Instead, they suggested that if I wasn't at ease answering the security queries over the phone, I could ring the number on the back of my credit card, and they would play the recording for me there. I opted not to follow up on either suggestion.

I keep receiving calls from this number and it’s becoming rather irritating. I don’t even possess a credit card with Canadian Tire-only a loyalty card. Unfortunately, the app for the points card doesn’t allow me to take my number off. I rang them up to lodge a complaint, and they’ve assured me it’s just a technical hiccup. But given the sheer volume of similar grievances, I’m having a hard time believing that. The app explicitly states that my number would only be contacted if there was an issue with my order, which seems to be a bit of a fib. I really can’t stand it when businesses start bombarding us with calls for no apparent reason. I’ve decided to uninstall the Points Card app and shop elsewhere; Canadian Tire is off my list for good. Did they really think this would work in their favour? Their actions have undoubtedly cost them customers due to this type of nuisance.

Honestly, it's a bit of basic wisdom to either drain the fuel from the equipment or add some stabiliser to the tank. It’s akin to going to a dealership and expecting them to fix your car after you've attempted to shove another vehicle and ended up damaging your bumper! Unfortunately, you’ve got to own that mistake-it’s on you, not Canadian Tire.

I took it upon myself to ring the number back and gave them a piece of my mind. Imagine, calls at the crack of dawn on a Saturday-how outrageous! I found out that this number is associated with Canadian Tire. I own a CT credit card which I haven't yet activated or used, and I was informed that if I don't get it going within 30 days, it would be deemed inactive. Well, it's been over four months now, and I've been inundated with calls-sometimes five in a single day! Initially, I would receive pesky texts, but I replied with a “STOP” to put an end to them. Yet here I am now, answering the phone only to be met with silence on the other end. It's utterly absurd!

It seems that Canadian Tire is quite persistent with their phone calls! I received a trio of calls within the past week whilst I was overseas, so I couldn’t pick up. When I returned the call today, it turned out to be a reminder that I’d missed a payment during my holiday. If you find yourself in a similar predicament, it’s pretty straightforward: just ensure your payments are up to date and they probably won’t bother you. If the calls are indeed meant for someone else, simply inform them when you return their call, and that should set things right.

About 0800 Numbers

A lot of companies employ Freephone numbers, with dial-outs being free of cost from all residential landlines and cell phones. However, if you're using a business phone, you might need to consult your service provider to determine if costs could be imposed for dialing 0800 or 0808 numbers.
