Got a call around 8 at night from someone claiming to be from Canadian Tire Financial Services. The lady on the line said the call was being recorded and offered to increase my credit limit from $6,000 to $7,000. I kinda snapped back, told her she had my okay, and quickly ended the call without mentioning my actual credit limit with Canadian Tire is already $7,500. Had to block the number 1-800-459-6415 on my phone. Just another darn phishing scam, honestly!

Got totally tricked by someone saying they were calling from Amazon’s security team. They kept going on about tracking down hackers and such. Then they started asking for all sorts of personal stuff like bank details, credit card numbers and even my driving licence. Most of the time, they used some site called moonpay.10. Seriously, don’t hand over any info to these people!

For everyone moaning about these calls, it’s really easy to sort. I rang the number back and explained I’ve never had a CT Madge card. The lady said it’s probably just some marketing for the rewards card. She put me on their do not call list, mentioned it might take about a week to kick in. Sorted!

I rang this number and it put me through to Canadian Tire Mastercard. The woman who contacted me said her name was Karrina and she was from Contact Resources Services. Every time the number pops up, it shows Canadian Tire Mastercard, I even mentioned that to her. It’s also listed as 1 888 771 5308 somewhere. Feels a bit fishy to me.

Legally, they’re allowed to ring you loads of times but they’re not meant to leave voicemails or chat with you more than twice a week. Actually, they’re supposed to send you a letter first before all this calling nonsense begins, but they usually ignore that rule. Next time they hassle you, ask for their collection agency registration number here in Ontario. If they can’t provide one, they have no right to bother you. And if they do show it, they’ll probably realise you know your stuff and back off.
