I got a message saying Microsoft had locked my PC and I had to call them immediately to sort it out. It felt quite convincing since it showed up right on my screen. I rang the number, but the person on the other end didn’t sound professional at all, nothing like what I’d expect from Microsoft. What really gave it away was when I ended the call and they rang me straight back from a 1844 number. Just a heads up, these fraudsters are getting more clever these days.

Somebody must have got my number pretending to be from Bank of America, saying someone was trying to take money from my account and I had to ring them immediately. They kept asking for my name and social details but I just told them off and ended the call.

I got calls from two numbers, one was 1844 ### and the other had our local Canadian area code ### ### ###, both saying my Social Insurance Number was locked or something like that. I ended the calls really quick. They came just a few minutes apart from each other.

You should really report them to the federal trade commission, they’re pretending to be from the tax office and law enforcement which is illegal.

For the past few weeks, I've been getting calls from this number almost every day now. Usually, they ring once and leave a really short voicemail, maybe just a few seconds. The caller ID says OneMain. They keep mentioning something about debt collection but never give any real info. The voice sounds like the same woman each time. They ask me to call them back and even tell me their available hours. Not once have they used my name. Just today, the lady quickly said her name, but that's it. I don’t owe any money - I always keep an eye on my credit reports from all three agencies. Feels like a scam or some kind of fraud to me. If they knew who they were calling, surely they'd say my name? Seems like they're trying to fish for information.

That call was definitely a scam. They blocked my computer and I honestly think they stole some info from it. I'm going to report it to the police.

Got a call from 1844 number earlier, left a voicemail saying they were gonna bill my account for some service on my gadgets and asked me to ring them back at the same number 1844-###-###. I just ignored it, didn’t bother calling back. Actually, it was the second time today I got the exact same message.

Got a call from 1844### and some bloke pretending to be from the IRS. He said there was an issue with my tax documents and I had to ring him back, or else get my solicitor to call him on his private line. Honestly, his accent made me think he was from abroad somewhere. If the IRS had a real problem, they'd send a letter, not make random calls like this - seems a waste of time for them. Total scam, absolute muppets!
