I looked up a number starting with 01839 and saw it flagged as an invalid area code, possibly fake to hide the caller's real location. There weren't any reviews or feedback on that specific full number, just a neutral label. Got a missed call from 01839 861448, our BT Call Checker flagged it up. We’ve been getting loads of these weird calls recently, like over the past fortnight. One even came from Vatican City, which is strange because apparently the Pope was in Iraq that day according to the news. Totally odd!

Got a call from 01839201528 claiming to be from BT internet, but I’m not even a BT customer so I just ended the call. Looking back, I should have let them carry on and just mess with them a bit. The idea is to waste their time so they can't bother anyone else right now. Act clueless, pretend to follow their instructions but don’t actually do anything, and keep telling them it’s not working. I’m convinced if more folks did this, we’d keep scammers tied up and prevent others from falling for their tricks.

Got a voicemail from 01839119339 saying I just sent £600 overseas and to press 1 if that’s true. Yeah right, no way!

Received a message claiming to be from LloydsUK telling me my phone was connected to a new device, a Samsung Galaxy S10. It asked me to call either 01839 4827191 or 03333355625. Felt a bit fishy to me.

This number 01839 758 034 keeps ringing me loads during the day, and I’m pretty sure it’s some kind of scam. I always let the answerphone pick up first before I bother with any unknown callers. It’s really annoying and upsetting. I don’t get why I’m getting so many calls without asking for them - had about 10 today alone since early morning. Maybe it’s because I’m older (77), so they think I’ll be an easy mark. Honestly, I don’t know what else to do now - should I just change my BT number to have some peace?

Today (27/07/20), I got a call from 01839045893. The screen said INTERNATIONAL CALL, but as soon as Ansafone picked up, the ringing stopped. Looks like I must be on some kind of foreign contact list now. Lucky me, huh?

Got two calls today from people saying they were with Amazon, talking about a charge of £59.99. Problem is, I don’t even shop with Amazon. The first call came through at about 10:35 am from 01959 792634, then they rang again at noon from a different number, 01839 545355. Quite suspicious if you ask me.

I got a call from 01839 173946 claiming they were from BT and that my internet had been hacked so I needed to link up my laptop. I told them no thanks, and then they warned me my account would be cut off. I just said “go ahead then” and hung up. My internet’s still working fine, so it’s definitely one of those classic scams.

Got a call from 01839 552095 claiming to be from Visa's fraud team. They said there was a foreign transaction of £600 and asked if I wanted to stop it or let it go through. When I asked who the payment was to, they kept saying they couldn’t hear me and then just hung up. Feels like they were trying to trick me into giving my card info. I bet loads of people fall for this and end up sharing their details, which is really risky.

Just got a call from 01839 278965 saying it was BT and that my Internet would be disconnected today. I told them I wasn’t sure it was really BT and that I was going to hang up and ring the official BT customer service number I have. Before I could do that, the caller ended the call. These sorts of calls are illegal and really shouldn’t be allowed to carry on. There must be a way to put an end to them.

Don’t ever answer 01839 251760, it’s a proper dodgy number. These people ain’t connected to BT or anything legit, they’re just trying to get your info for a scam. Best thing is to just ignore them completely, they’re up to no good. Total scam, no trust there!

Got calls from them two times within an hour, all I heard was "hello" and nothing else made sense. Then they called again, just said "hello" once more. I told them to bugger off. After I’d chilled a bit, I tried calling back but apparently that number doesn’t exist.

It was pretty obvious it was some dodgy scam, so I just ended the call straight away. Still, makes me feel bad for folks who might believe this nonsense and end up getting caught out by these scammers.

Got a call today from 01839 748468 out of the blue, saying they’d “disconnect our internet”. Seemed like a total scam to me, so we just ignored it.
