We've been hit with a bill for what they claim was a 45-minute phone conversation, and Sky has slapped us with a charge of £50.55. If this is indeed a notorious scam, then why on earth hasn't it been nipped in the bud? And why are we being forced to foot the bill?

UPDATE: 9th Oct, 23:57 Just got a voicemail sayin Sky won't refund the £50.90 that was scammed cos they reckon the fraud call came from my landline. Proper frustrating! I’m not happy about it one bit. I’m reachin out to BBC Watchdog as well, askin them to look into this. When we checked online, that number’s a known scam and it’s hit loads of people, all losing similar amounts and times, with different companies like BT and Virgin too. Got photos of the bills to prove it.

Early this morning about 6:25 am, my parents got onto the Sky Line app and chatted for more than 45 minutes with customer service, being passed through three different reps. After all that, they finally said they'd credit the account with £50.95 and threw in a free Sky Talk Shield as well. Guess we'll have to wait a month to check if the credit actually shows up.

On the 10th of August, I noticed two charges on my account. One was for a rather lengthy 45 minutes that racked up a bill of £50.96, and the other lasted 26 minutes, costing me £29.73. Altogether, that’s a hefty £80.69! I just can’t fathom why these fraudsters are still getting away with this. What’s being done about it?

Just got my O2 statement and noticed a call charge of £22 on 25/8/18. I was baffled 'cos I never call premium numbers. I use Duo Lingo to learn French and it's free, but you gotta watch ads. One ad was a quiz for a £300 Morrisons Voucher, it kept going on and on. I finally ended the call, but it's wrong how you're tricked into costs like this without any warning. I'm proper annoyed and can't find any way to get in touch with DuoLingo!😡

I've noticed this peculiar number prefixed by SC33 showing up on my EE bill, with a rather lengthy call recorded at 38 minutes and 6 seconds. It all happened at a rather ungodly hour of 8:45 on a Sunday morning, specifically the 10th of June, 2018, and the charge is a staggering £40.50. What’s more, there were only two of us at home, myself and one other, and neither of us has any memory of making such a lengthy call. It certainly has all the hallmarks of a scam, but the question persists: how did this happen? Best, Matthew Bell.

Noticed a call from 09115628452 on my phone bill and got billed more than £24 for it. I never dialled this number nor do I think I accidentally clicked on anything sketchy. I got caught up in one of those pop-up ads claiming I’d won a prize. I ended up calling the number, and after a staggering 45 minutes, I found myself £50 lighter. Please, for your sake, steer clear of such cons. It’s truly a scam, and I should have been more wary.

I've just come across two unexpected charges on my EE account - one for £20.08 and another for £10.42. I’m certain I didn’t pick up the call in question as I was unavailable at 23.08. It might be worth reviewing your billing details. I’ll be getting in touch with my service provider first thing in the morning.

I’ve come across this number that I don’t recognise at all, and to top it off, I haven’t received any bills associated with it. Yet, there it is on my statement, and it's cost me a whopping £20.00! What a right bother!

I received a call about a competition run by Asda, claiming I could win £500 worth of vouchers. I was on the line for a whopping 23 minutes, answering their questions. However, I never managed to hit that £500 target. After realising I wasn’t getting anywhere, it dawned on me that it must be a scam! Just a heads up to everyone-stay alert!

I received what seemed like a call inviting me to enter a competition for a chance to win a prize, allegedly backed by Microsoft. I strongly advise against dialling this number or taking part in their quiz. It’s nothing more than a trap-definitely a scam! Avoid it at all costs! +++++++++SCAM++++++++SCAM++++++SCAM++++SCAM+++++++

As I was perusing Ebay, my computer unexpectedly flashed a message claiming I'd won a special prize from Microsoft - my choice of an iPhone, a PS4, or a Galaxy S6. It followed up with a request to fill out a survey and take a quiz. I urge you, steer clear of this number and don’t get involved with the quiz; it’s nothing but a con!

I've been told that if I ring this number and input a so-called Prize ID linked to an interminable survey, they'll send me an iPhone X. However, they can sit there waiting for my call indefinitely, as I refuse to fall for such nonsense! It’s definitely a scam, so be cautious, everyone! Cheers!

Got a bill from Utility Warehouse for £28.68 for a call to 09115628452. We was away on holiday and only got back around midday. The call apparently happened at 08:06:43 though. Strange!

What a complete rip-off! I thought I was signing up for a Tesco quiz, but it turned out to be a total letdown! It only went on for about three-quarters of an hour before it abruptly ended. Now I’m left with an extra £50 charge on my TalkTalk bill. Seriously, take heed and steer clear of this quiz! It's nothing but trouble!

Just got my phone bill and it’s saying I’ve been charged more than £30 for a call I don’t even recall making to this number. No idea who they are. Can anyone shed some light on this?

My mother ended up shelling out £48 by dialling this particular number at the close of July. She got an email that appeared to be from Tesco, luring her with the chance to snag £500 in vouchers. However, the moment she made the call, they had her trapped for a whopping 45 minutes, dragging her through some sort of quiz.

I’d think twice before dialing this number, to be honest. It could end up draining your wallet quite a bit!

I ended up shelling out £42.20 for a mere telephone call! It felt like a complete and utter swindle, masquerading as some sort of quiz for a chance to win a £350 voucher for Nando's. Initially, I got an email prompting my participation. Once I responded, I was given this number along with a PIN to take part in the quiz. But good grief, it just went on and on-utterly relentless! I ended up disconnecting, and it’s now glaringly obvious that I’ve been duped. M A Syed [email protected]
