Can anyone shed light on who might be behind this number, as we seem to be billed for it? I’d really appreciate any insight into what’s going on here. Thank you!

This is regarding ADT Alarms, and here’s the lowdown: if you've got one of their monitored alarm systems, know that their unit dials this number on a regular basis to shoot information back to the monitoring station. However, the monitoring centre is about as useful as a chocolate teapot! We recently discovered an unexpected charge of £37 added to our telephone bill because these clowns failed to react to the calls originating from a battery that was running low! It was actually me who had to reach out to them when I realised I couldn’t set the alarm one morning. Every time the unit reaches out, it ends up costing you 23p, and ours was calling out daily for an entire month, racking up a staggering 56 calls in one day! I’m currently trying to reclaim the unjust charges. Furthermore, do keep in mind that you can set your unit to dial a free 0800 number; however, you must specifically request this from ADT, which, unsurprisingly, they conveniently neglect to mention. They typically set it to the 0871 number since they profit from every single call made!
