Without a doubt, it’s Halifax. They’re the ones who’ll give you a ring if there’s anything dodgy happening with your card or account. We experienced this ourselves right after we settled our online insurance bill - a rather substantial four-figure sum, I might add. Just ring them back to confirm that it’s genuinely you. If they can’t reach you by phone, they’ll follow up with a letter through the post.

I received a missed call from a personal number, quite similar to others I've encountered. A lass with a Scottish accent mentioned it was regarding a private banking issue, not a sales pitch, and requested we ring her back on that number. Naturally, I did a bit of digging online and chanced upon this website. I then contacted our bank, Halifax, giving them the number, and much to my surprise, they followed up with a call to her. It turns out everything was above board. We've been caught up in a scam, and they were assisting us in resolving the matter. While the number seems genuine, I'd still recommend going through your bank for safety's sake.

Absolutely, it's without a doubt Halifax. We also spoke to a Scottish gentleman on the line. There were a couple of dodgy transactions on our account, so we promptly contacted the fraud team and had our card cancelled. When we visited Halifax, their staff confirmed that the card had indeed been cancelled and that a replacement was being issued. The representatives mentioned that there have been numerous scams linked to retailers like Currys and Dixons online. At first, we were a bit sceptical, but we decided to play along, and it turned out to be a wise choice! Thank goodness we did!

The caller, a young woman, asked for our date of birth and address, which immediately set alarm bells ringing for us, so we declined to provide any information. Following that, we reached out to our bank, HBOS, and they informed us that a transaction was processed on our account - one that we had certainly not authorised!

To be honest, I haven't a clue who she is or where she’s calling from, and she never dropped the name of our bank. So, we're definitely not returning the call.

It appears that we've been contacted by the Halifax Retail fraud team based in Leeds. They sent us a message because someone attempted to purchase a washing machine from Dixons using our regular laptop, despite us being about 400 miles away from home! It seems like Halifax or Dixons took issue with the "incorrect" IP address, leading them to decline the transaction. Quite infuriating, but I must commend their keen eye for detail. Interestingly, we faced no problems with Appliances-on-line, who seemed to have no qualms about the situation.

We rang them again and also got in touch with our bank, Halifax. Everything seems to be perfectly legitimate. It appears that someone managed to clone our card online and tried to make purchases. Thankfully, the bank swiftly cancelled our card and dispatched a replacement.

Earlier today, we received a letter that was just in black and white, lacking any bank details or the proper blue Halifax logo (it’s just black). The paper it was printed on is of incredibly low quality. The number we flagged is 08456027465, and I must stress-don’t share any information with anyone using this number. It’s a complete fraud.
