I can confidently say that this was definitely a call from the Inland Revenue's tax collection department. I managed to confirm this earlier today.

I had a real experience with a call that turned out to be from the HMRC Debt Collection Office. I've received calls concerning several clients, and this lot managed to furnish details like when tax returns were filed and when penalties were levied-info that only the HMRC would know. Quite reliable, if you ask me!

Received a call from this number earlier today. The caller was a woman who chuckled during her message and then abruptly hung up. Not exactly the best way to inspire confidence, if you ask me. I certainly won’t be rushing to get back to them!

I can confirm that this is indeed a legitimate number for the debt management team, which operates from 8 am to 8 pm on weekdays and 8 am to 4 pm over the weekend. They request your reference number, full name, address, date of birth, and telephone number in order to ensure they're speaking with the right individual. This is done as a precaution for our data security, as advised. I recently discovered I had a pending return that I knew nothing about. Although they allowed me additional time to submit it, I faced a penalty of £100, which I managed to contest successfully. Their assistance was incredibly beneficial.

Claimed to be from HM Revenue and Customs, asking us to reveal confidential details.

We gave our tax office a bell using the number from our statement, only to discover that there were no notes indicating we should be in touch. This led me to suspect that it might be a scam. Interestingly, after dialing 1471, we received a different number: 0845 300 3950. Quite the puzzle, isn't it?

We find ourselves rather sceptical about this, but I’m reasonably convinced that it was the tax authorities attempting to collect a payment. We're aware of a minor tax balance that's still due. Unless these individuals have somehow breached the Inland Revenue's system and obtained our details from somewhere, they were able to confirm the precise amount owed to us. We're quite confident this contact originated from the Inland Revenue. Unless these folks are exceptionally skilled hackers-or perhaps simply fortuitous after buying a second-hand computer!

I can confirm that this number belongs to HMRC; it’s linked to the Self Assessment Payment Helpline. They request security information to safeguard your data, as it’s crucial to verify that they're speaking with the right individual. Make sure you settle your tax dues promptly in the future, just like everyone else is expected to do, and then those calls won’t bother you!

She claimed to represent the Inland Revenue and requested sensitive details, like our date of birth, to confirm our identities. Once we declined to share that information and mentioned we would call them back, they were adamant about providing this number. However, when we reached out to the genuine Inland Revenue, they seemed totally clueless about the whole situation.

Received a rather peculiar call claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs on Sunday, 14th February 2009. They insisted that I return a ring by Tuesday at six in the evening, and they even provided a reference number. I must say, that sounds highly dubious! Definitely not falling for that! Just going to disregard it.

It appears that this is a debt collection agency at play; someone residing at your address must be in arrears. Honestly, this nation has had its fill of unscrupulous and cunning behaviour. Best not to engage in conversation with anyone. When the tax authorities are in dire need of sorting their affairs, you can expect a rather official-looking brown envelope to land on your doorstep.

We were quite firm in not disclosing our information when this number called us, and we were advised to return the call. After having a look at the website, we became quite certain it was a scam, despite them mentioning the accurate reference number related to our tax. In the end, we opted to return the call, taking a chance given our existing debts with HMRC. We processed a payment that showed up as cleared in our bank account, and we received a statement confirming the transaction. It turned out to be an authentic number for HMRC’s debt collection purposes.
