This morning, at half past eight, we received a rather alarming message which was left on our voicemail from a group urgently wanting us to return their call before 8 o'clock tomorrow evening. When we finally rang them back, we found ourselves confirming our details to a lady with a lovely Scottish accent. Apparently, they are insisting that we owe them over £360 in excess tax credits! They claim to have sent us several letters regarding this matter, but we haven’t seen a single one in the post. Now, they're threatening to initiate legal proceedings against us if we don’t settle this or make arrangements by their deadline. We say, let them try!

Blimey, a couple of Scottish chaps just had a run-in claiming to be from HMRC, after our National Insurance number. We gave them a right telling off and told them to take a hike, the audacity of it all!

Received a call from this number, and it raised a few eyebrows. It seems rather dodgy, to be honest. Just a heads up, the tax office usually reaches out via traditional mail, so tread carefully with any communications from unfamiliar digits!

Oh, how peculiar! I just received a rather odd message on our mobile, the caller had a thick Scottish brogue and was urging us to return the call. Thankfully, we sensed something amiss and decided to do a quick search on Google with the number. Lo and behold, we stumbled upon this site! It certainly seems like there's a hefty scam brewing here. We plan to get in touch with the genuine HM Revenue and Customs first thing tomorrow to report this.

Nicola, it’s rather perplexing, isn't it? We reached out to HM Revenue and Customs using their official number, yet the individuals on the other end seem utterly oblivious to our previous communication. It's baffling - especially since there's nothing outstanding on our account, either owed to us or by us. The message we received was quite puzzling! The chap from HMRC we spoke with even suggested that it might be some sort of scam. I can't stress enough: steer clear of sharing any personal information with anyone on that number! Always verify by calling HMRC directly using their legitimate contact details!

I’m quite curious about who these individuals are and what their intentions might be. What is it they’re after?

An intriguing situation unfolded when a Scottish lady left a voicemail on our answering machine, urging us to return her call before the 21st of September. We promptly tried to ring her back, but to our dismay, there was no response. Given that the number seemed rather uncharacteristic for tax credits, I decided to pop it into a search engine. To my surprise, I stumbled upon this review. In hindsight, I’m quite relieved that we couldn’t get through to her!

Received a message from this number, requesting that we call back at eight in the evening with our national insurance number. Just so you know, HMRC doesn’t send messages via mobile, so we decided against returning the call. Seems a bit dodgy, if you ask me!

We recently received a call from a chap with a Scottish accent who seemed eager to chat with my wife. Luckily, he had just headed off to work. She mentioned she was on the line with Revenue and Customs and somehow this number came up. Honestly, the details in this directory are quite outdated - she specified M. B., but my partner ditched the 'B' from her name two years back through a deed poll! Quite a mix-up, if you ask me!

What a load of rubbish! It's the same old story-my phone just rang and there was no one on the other end!

In the last three months, we’ve received three of these calls. A lady claimed we had some outstanding balance due to an overpayment on our working or child tax credits. We advised her to send us a letter regarding this issue right after hanging up. However, when we rang the tax credits helpline using the official number we have, they had no knowledge of the situation whatsoever. Interestingly, this number, 08453021420, closely resembles the tax credits overpayment line - just one digit has been altered.

This is an authentic number, and it appears that the folks on this website aren't the brightest bunch; perhaps they're all entangled in tax credit dilemmas.

Earlier today, my partner and I received a call from this number, so we figured it would be wise to share the experience here on this site.

We received a couple of calls from this number, and after the second one, we decided to leave a message on the answering machine, asking them to return the call urgently regarding a National Insurance number before 8 in the evening. We chose to disregard it, as we reckon if it was truly pressing, there would have been a letter sent in the post. The caller had a distinctly Scottish accent, which only made it seem a bit sketchy.
