9 yearsGot two calls from this number yesterday and they left a voicemail saying something about pressing 1 if it’s me, or 2 if it isn’t. Honestly, it felt a bit dodgy and I really wanna find out who it is. Seems a bit fishy to me.9 yearsI've been receiving calls from this number around four or five times daily. I haven't picked up any of them, but do you reckon it would be wise to block it? Cheers!9 yearsThe phone rings from this number and as soon as an elderly man, who’s already dealing with serious health problems and whose wife is in hospital, picks up, the call just drops. It’s really distressing for him and he’s quite shaken by these sudden hang-ups!10 yearsI reckon you've hit the nail on the head there, it’s definitely GE Money that’s been calling. They’ve been ringing me at least once a day for weeks on end. Is it possible for BT to block a number like that? I’m going to give it a go and I'll be sure to keep you updated if I have any success!BT10 yearsI've come across information suggesting that this number is associated with GE Money and Tricity Finance.GE MoneyTricity Finance10 yearsRegrettably, the call centre was located beyond the borders of the United Kingdom, which means that the phone preference service isn’t applicable here.United Kingdom10 yearsWe've been getting calls on our home number that go completely silent as soon as we pick up. It's been a bit of a nuisance over the last few days, particularly around half seven in the evening. Previously, we were troubled by automated calls from GE Money, which always ask for some random individual. They prompt you to press 1 to confirm or 2 to decline further contact - yet here we are, still receiving their calls regardless! Is there any way to block these pesky callers for good?GE Money10 yearsIt appears that this number belongs to GE Money. Whenever I tried to return the call, the individuals on the other end claimed it was related to a private business issue. They seem quite persistent, as they continue to reach out via calls and letters regularly.GE Money10 yearsThat number has been really getting on our nerves! It’s definitely worth flagging them up. I’d appreciate any news on how to shut these pests down!10 yearsI can assure you that these individuals are quite genuine. They do request certain security details for 'protection' purposes. I received two calls from them, first one from 08451262663, which was a landline, and shortly after, another from 08448488937 on my mobile. Quite an interesting sequence of events, I must say!10 yearsIt's not the government, it's this lot running it!10 yearsAlright then. I placed an online grocery order with Asda last Thursday, but the transaction didn’t go through. Fair enough, I thought. So, I rang up Santander’s Customer Services - and just for the record, that FREEPHONE number 08000566066 exists even if they don’t promote it! I was shuffled over to Card Security, verified my particulars, and confirmed that everything was above board (they seemed rather curious about the transaction amount). Turns out my account had been “flagged for investigation,” and I was supposed to receive an automated call back, which never came. Had to follow up myself. Frankly, I find Santander's approach to security overly cautious, which can be rather irritating. Still, I managed to straighten them out, and things usually settle down for a couple of months before the whole cycle starts anew, thanks to their automated systems. Well, I thought that was the end of it. But no! On Friday, I got a handful of calls. The first one was just dead air, so I contacted Customer Service again. The chap asked if I had, or had ever had, a credit card. I said no, so he spoke to the fraud department. They assured me they’d look into it, but nothing happened. I then received another call from a bloke looking for “Gregory Fickes.” I informed him I’d lived at this number for a decade and referred him to the fraud team, giving them my name as a reference. The 0845 number flashing on my caller ID was indeed from their fraud centre in Newcastle, 08456039469. Thought it was all sorted? Think again! I lodged a complaint, and now four departments are involved in this mess. I’m anticipating more of those automated calls. I’ll just ignore them and keep a record. Caller ID and that 1471 service are extremely handy! Fast forward to Saturday, and I’ve received three calls from 08451262663, which belongs to Santander - just had a word with the fraud team again. Don’t forget the two calls from Friday coming from 08456039469 - that’s Santander's outbound centre. Both these numbers are essentially part of Santander’s chase for alleged fraud. I’m registered with TPS - so they’re clearly flouting regulations. This seems to clearly point to Santander’s efforts to track down credit card fraudsters, albeit with a rather chaotic approach as they were asking about two completely different individuals during my discussions. Their system appears to randomly link names and numbers to different agents who then make calls and handle cases. Or at least that’s how it’s meant to work... If you’re an ex-customer of Alliance/Leicester, Abbey, or Bradford/Bingley and have two Santander accounts from those banks that underwent a name change or ‘upgrade’, it’s likely to use any and all available numbers, mostly directing calls through the Abbey National contact lines from my experience. Santander often checks their records and might not find the number linked to your primary account, but it’ll show up on your secondary one, which is likely archived. Sadly, the integration of their systems isn’t as seamless as they want you to believe! What actually occurs is that like with autodiallers, their tech hasn’t kept pace with human interaction, leading to numbers being misallocated across multiple individuals! Even after meticulously explaining the situation to customer services, fraud, and security, and them reaching out to their IT department, alongside sending emails to every outbound call centre to halt actions on my number, the calls just keep rolling in because their system is in a right mess and can’t manage the situation effectively. I gathered this info because my first call of the day yesterday was silent, the second got me through to a Santander rep, the third was silent again, and the fourth had a chap unaware that he was talking to a colleague before cutting out. The fifth call was silent too. That’s clearly an error in the system, and you’ve just been fortunate enough to be one of many people pestered by an overly active computer on that day. Until the IT team sorts it out, expect to be inundated with automated security calls - perhaps between two to five daily, with only a rough chance that there’ll actually be a human on the line. Remember, these calls are NOT meant for you - they’re pursuing a credit card fraudster. It’s harassment, and Santander should take action to rectify this problem and consider compensating individuals wrongly caught up in their misguided zeal for security! If you see these numbers, either ignore them or engage if someone is on the line. Regardless, my advice is to keep a detailed log, ring Customer Services, file a complaint, chat with card services, and reach out to card fraud - copying in security and their IT team. Best to call them frequently to keep that record updated. I get that going through the same details can be tiresome, so be succinct and clear while documenting everything. Eventually, Santander will untangle this mess, but don’t expect them to have a clue about what their systems are playing at! Santander - the bank that once compensated a mate £150 after locking him out during Christmas! If you're with them, speak up, get some resolution, but don't deceive yourself into thinking they’ll change anytime soon. I encounter a new issue with them every three months and have made the decision to leave! Do keep an eye on the overly cheerful claims they made about being "the best bank," as touted by some obscure consumer publication - it’s a tall tale! And just to round things off, here’s what Wikipedia says about them: Santander has often ranked poorly in terms of customer service in the UK. Between 2007 and 2010, it was consistently viewed as the bottom bank for customer satisfaction in the J.D. Power Retail Banking Satisfaction Study, though it managed to improve to second worst by 2011. In October 2011, Moody's downgraded the credit ratings of twelve UK banks, including Santander, citing financial shortcomings. By 2012, however, Moody's assessed Santander UK as healthier than its parent company, Banco Santander; notably, less than 1% of its business is overseas.AsdaSantanderServicesCard SecurityCustomer ServiceGregory FickesNewcastle10 yearsWe've had this number call us a few times today, but each time we pick up, the line goes dead. It's becoming quite a nuisance!Santander12 yearsI’m not familiar with the number, but it’s rather peculiar - these individuals ring us a couple of times each day, and without fail, all we hear is silence the moment we pick up. Quite unsettling, really!12 yearsIt seems that Santander has acquired numerous credit card companies, and as a result, if you're behind on a payment, brace yourself for a flurry of phone calls. I received a staggering ten calls today alone!Santander12 yearsI’ve been inundated with calls from this number, five times a day for the past week, all claiming to be a new entity that has taken over from Santander. I currently have a direct debit arrangement with Santander, yet they refuse to send me a statement. Whenever I raise my concerns, all they seem interested in is verifying my personal information, like my date of birth and address. It feels like they're fishing for a payment, which raises a few red flags for me. Can they actually ring me repeatedly without my consent, especially after 8 in the evening? It’s quite bizarre that sometimes I pick up and no one even bothers to say a word!Santander12 yearsSeems like it's those debt recovery agents.12 yearsIndeed, we received a call from this number, and we initially thought it might be a return call from Lloyds telephone insurance since we had reached out to them earlier. However, we're not entirely convinced. In our attempt to clarify, we did some digging but found no relevant information. When we called the number back, it turned out to be GE Consumer Credit. This raises the possibility that it could relate to credit cards or something of that sort, but the thing is, we don’t have any with them. It seems like these folks are relentless in their attempts to make contact.13 yearsIt appears that this number is associated with Santander Credit, reaching out on behalf of various retail partners like House of Fraser. The frequency of the calls is rather consistent, with them coming in at early and late hours, along with numerous interruptions throughout the day. It seems like these are automated calls, as there's a noticeable delay or silence when you pick up the phone. If you linger on the line for a couple of seconds, a live voice typically comes through, frequently inquiring about someone by name. When questioned about their affiliation, they do mention Santander Credit, but quickly become evasive, citing 'data protection regulations' when pressed further.Santander CreditHouse of Fraser13 yearsIt seems that these chaps are debt collectors affiliated with Santander.
