How generous of them to interrupt their presumably busy schedule to reach out to ordinary individuals like ourselves! It’s a shame, really, as we’ve already sorted out our energy grant and are rather weary of the myriad of scammers, such as these, trying to reel us in for our personal details or business. Quite tiresome, really!

It appears that these individuals have little regard for the fact that I'm registered with the Telephone Preference Service. Every time I mention it, they seem to turn a deaf ear and continue their calls. It’s quite infuriating! They’ve rung me a staggering eight times in just one day, and whenever I answer, they promptly hang up and just keep on calling. I wish they'd take the hint and stop bothering me!

They were insistent on verifying private details, which we flatly declined to share. Not long after we hung up, we took the precaution of blocking that number for a while. I recently received a call from these individuals regarding grants for insulating homes. The moment we inquired about how they obtained our number, especially since we're listed on the Telephone Preference Service, the caller claimed they were affiliated with a government agency and had access to everyone's contact details. He then directed us to a supposed website, MES, which appears to be non-existent. To make matters worse, the name he used to address us raised our eyebrows even further. It seems rather plausible that these callers may have accessed business or professional organisation websites unlawfully.

However, when we probed further and asked if they were trying to sell us anything, they swiftly shifted the conversation. When we inquired about how they got hold of our number, they remarked it was through the electricity provider. I received a phone call from someone claiming to be associated with Wiltshire Council, who mentioned that they were listed as providers for loft insulation grants. I explained to them that our house, built in 1998, already has sufficient loft insulation-around eight inches-since we moved in. They then informed us that we would be removed from their list. Subsequently, I noticed their number on my caller display and decided to contact them from a different phone line. This time, it was answered by Nationwide Insulation Services. It’s evident they’re engaging in cold calling to drum up business, and to make matters worse, we’re registered with the Telephone Preference Service as well.

Curious to know which council granted them the right to utilise your number? It’s quite a sneaky tactic they've got, isn’t it? Almost as if they’ve hoovered up your details from some dodgy list they’ve compiled whilst pestering folk or fishing for information. I don’t get what these scoundrels think they’re achieving by hassling elderly folks like that. It’s got to the point where she’s too frightened to pick up the phone. If you want proof, just drop an email to [email protected] and they’ll send you a copy of the cheque plus info on how you can claim yourself. They reply quickly with all the details you need.

Got a call today even though I’m on the TPS list. The caller was from some call centre and it sounded real unprofessional, loads of noise and messing about in the background. The bloke said he was a "Chief Grant Advisor" from the council and tried to fish for my personal info.

He didn’t accept when I said I wasn’t interested, so I just ended the call. Reported the whole thing to TPS aswell.
