Got a robo call from a sort of female-sounding voice pretending to be Dennis Gray or something, saying it was a direct line to my division. They warned me not to ignore the message or I'd "face legal action." When I called back, they wanted my address and name, then said they'd be sending me a letter. Total scam and felt pretty intimidating.

This sort of thing is really risky. You’d think shutting down numbers like this would be simple, but for some reason it doesn’t happen. BT makes you prove who you are to get a phone line, so why is it so hard to take legal action against these scammers? It just doesn’t add up.

Got a voicemail saying it was from HMRC, but most of it was pretty muffled so I couldn’t really make out what they were on about. It sounded like some urgent warning or something, but I didn’t stick around to catch it all. Quite confusing really.

I ignored the call since the number wasn’t saved, but later got a voicemail claiming to be from HMRC - very suspicious considering I just received a letter from them recently. The message, which was an automated female voice, warned me to call back or else I’d be arrested. Since I’m in the police force, I can tell you right away that this is a total scam. I got a call on my landline from someone claiming to be with HMRC, threatening me with jail time and demanding payment through vouchers. It sounded dodgy straight away, so I just ended the call. Then I reported it to HMRC, who said they’d try and trace and shut down those scammers. If you get a call like this, just hang up and tell HMRC too, it’s best not to get involved.

Somebody rang me saying they were from HMRC and that I was gonna get arrested for not paying taxes. They said if I gave them the money right then on the phone, they'd cancel the arrest. Total con, no doubt about it! Make sure you report these crooks so others don’t fall for their tricks!

Just a heads up, I got a call once from someone pretending to be HMRC saying there was something wrong with my tax refund or that I had some tax debt to settle. They even left a voicemail asking me to ring them back. Honestly, don’t fall for it. HMRC would never ring you out of the blue like that, nor would they request your bank details over the phone. It’s totally dodgy and a scam.

Got a call from this number today, and they were threatening to have me arrested. I sent back an email saying the fraud team had traced their lines and that they’d be expecting a call from them shortly. Told them they’d likely have to shut this number and get a new one. Seriously, watch out and dont hand over any bank info. I even threw in a few choice words calling them s#### in my reply to their voicemail.

Right at the beginning they said it was something quite delicate. They wanted me to ring them back on the number they gave. They warned me that if I didn't get back in touch, I might face some legal troubles. They claimed to be from HMRC and the contact was supposedly Janice Gray.
